The Handle-Bar Tavern and Eatery — Restaurant in Plainville

Stopped by this cool spot last night and it was PHENOMENAL!! Our server was Michelle and she was so nice, attentive, and so personable! She made our experience fantastic! The food was soooo good! We had one of the specials as our appetizer, lobster cakes with a chipotle sauce. So delish, usually the phone eats first but I had to dive in on them! One of my friends had the roasted chicken and the other had prime rib, and for myself I devoured the pork belly! The sides I chose were garlic mashed yukon potatoes with white gravy on the side and asparagus, and we all were so happy with our meals. We tried the moustache ride don't ask questions, just do it and it was a fun way to end our long evening! Bee, one of the owners of the restaurant, came over and introduced herself and she is such a doll! So kind and happy to share the story behind the moustache ride and the restaurant itself. My family and I have been to this place several times now and every time has been amazing! The food has always exceeded expectations and is exceptional. I can't remember any menu item we ordered which we didn't like. We've tried the chicken strips (they are huge!), house burger, salmon, cod, chicken wings, flatiron steak, grilled chicken breast, Philly cheese steak sandwich and cheese curds. Last night, I had the K.C. Strip and it quite possibly was the BEST steak I've ever had at a restaurant. The drinks have always been cold and refilled before you run out. The waitresses have always been very pleasant and helpful with any questions. Last night we brought a slug of kids along with my brother and his wife, and the waitress had her hands full. She did a great job! I found the restaurant to be very kid-friendly with a good menu for them. Finally, I would add that the portion sizes are pretty large and the prices are very reasonable. We've eaten here a couple different times. I didn't think, after our first experience, that it could get better, but it did! On our first trip, we ordered a filet, and the chicken fried steak. They were both absolutely amazing! If broccolini is the vegetable of the day, order an extra side of it. Perfection. The best part of this first trip, besides the food, was that I ordered a glass of wine, and it came in a legit red wine glass. I know that doesn't seem important, but I don't like to be served a glass of wine where the pour is to the top of the glass.

On our second visit, we had the ribeye, which was perfectly cooked, and an assortment of appetizers. The spinach dip was delicious, the pork rinds were so good, but GET THE PORK BELLY! It was so tender and delightful that I contemplated getting another order. To top off this trip, I ordered a smoked old fashioned. It was one of THE BEST I've ever had.
