We selected Spice Rack's Banquet Hall for the Annual Diwali party of the Indian community living in our sub-division after an extensive due diligence of about 8 venues across Dallas metro area. We picked Spice Rack since the venue was a good fit across various parameters - size of the venue, overall look and feel, choice of cuisine, flexibility of the venue in accommodating small requests, proximity etc. Niranjan, who was our POC, was approachable and worked with our requirements along the way - whether it was decision on food, enabling us early access on the day of the event to get the venue decked up and making sure that he was around at the venue when our event was happening. This was one of the reasons why we decided not to go with another venue (Roma Palace) since the person responsible for the banquet hall was just not responsive.
The venue can hold around 170 people, our event was sold out fully. It has been around for a while and hence there is a bit of wear and tear that is evident (which is why my rating is not a 5) but for the price point and the service, it does offer good value for money. The food was spot on - we had Spring rolls, Chilli Paneer, Gobi Manchurian, Malai Kofta, Paneer Butter Masala, Dal Tadka, Veg biriyani with raita, White rice, Papad, Shaahi Gulab Jamun and supplemented this with ice cream & Soda which we purchased from outside. All of the dishes were very good - Paneer dishes had enough and more Paneer in them which is often an issue at Banquet halls. In fact, Chilli Paneer just had Paneer and sauces - again something we find lot of restaurants do is to add onions and bell peppers. When the event was over, Niranjan's team provided us zip loc bags to take the food home and for dishes that had sizable quantity, they even provided disposable trays to take the food home. That showed the focus on making sure that customers walked out happy in every sense. The 2 staff members who were allocated to support our event were also very nice and cordial, they worked hard to make sure that food was replenished in a timely fashion.
Niranjan also gave us coordinates of DJ's who work with Spice Rack. We found our DJ for the day, Sameer, though this list. Sameer also did an excellent job and was easy to work with.

Read moreOrdered takeout $ 150 worth. The starters and Naan were very bad looking and taste. They were burnt. Chicken pakodi had burnt smell and raw chicken taste. The remaining food in the order was fine. So I called them the next day but no one answered. I called the next day (2 days from my order), they took my callback number and said "manager is on leave. He will call back to discuss". Didn't get any call back in a week. So I have called them ( one week after my order), I tried to explain my concern and wanted to know if they really had any problem in their kitchen that day, or any cook is off etc. But phone call was not a good experience. The call goes as below : Me: some of my order was not good on that day. Her: ok. So you should have called the same day. Now we can't do anything Me: ok, so i want to know if there is acually any problem. I want some acknowledge to my concern. Is there anyone i can talk to ? Her: no my manager is on leave and he has lot of other work like grocerries and taking care many things. He can't talk about it. Me: but I am waiting for your callback about it. Why I was not told the same thing earlier itself? Her: I don't know who talked to you before but there is no such number written here. she might be a new joiner and we are still training them to respond better and definitely not to take number for a call back. Me: but will you please try to know what item or which day or what order number had a problem ? Her: I understand that food was not good, we will not repeat in future. If you called the same day, We would have replaced it for you. Me : it's 45 min away from my home. The guests started eating. The food is literally on their plates and then we observed its not good. we could not ask them to wait longer to eat. So we had to order nearby fast food. Her: we would have delivered it for you if its on the same day Me: there are kids who can't wait an hour when they already started eating. So I had to order outside. Her: (Trying to explain the same things in her own pace without let me to talk)
I also mentioned that, I didn't want to make it big about the restaurant name infront of my guests. That's why I called the next day.
Atleast, they dint want to know who has problem. What food was wrong etc. And ofcourse they are strong enough to say that.. "they are not responsible for already past day...
Read moreUpdate Manager/ Owner reached out and communicated they do take this kind of mistakes seriously and they are putting together a "actionable" plan in place to mitigate this kind of error in future. Also they processes full order refund and sincerely apologized for mistake. Let me start by saying this I been fan of this restaurant. I been a regular customer - at least once a month ordering . I have placed a few catering orders from this place and influenced friends and family to do so.
But experience on Mothers day 2022 totally ruined it. We are a vegetarian family due to religious reasons and ordered vegetarian togo food. We receive "chicken tikka masala" instead of "paneer tikka masala" and "chicken Manchurian" instead of "gobi Manchurian" while togo boxes were labeled correctly as "PTM" and "GM". Only after taking first bite of our food we realized the mistake restaurant made and had disgusting feeling.
when I called restaurant to complain they took it casually and said mistake happened because they had too many orders to handle, asked me to call back when manager is available and hanged up. called again and another employee refunded me for two items (where we had to throw out entire order -3 other entries were ordered) and said that the max they can do and I have to call back again when manager is available.
I asked them to instead have manager call me, and the employee said yes they wold make sure. I never received call from manager! they do not care for their customers and don't take...
