Support your local Iowa small businesses. Had a chance to stop by Half Time Bar & Grill in Pleasantville on Sunday for lunch. They recently won the best burger in Iowa competition. Great menu. The burgers are outstanding. I had the Sriracha Bourbon burger and my wife had the Southwest burger. Just excellent burgers and can see why they took 1st place. Loved the smokey grill flavor. These burgers are big and with the lettuce, tomato, and onions these babies are stacked. My wife said to tell everyone the only negative was to be prepared to ask for some extra napkins as they are so juicy. Not a negative but a compliment, they get 11 out of 10 The service was great. The staff was working hard as they are feeling the pressure of the surge in business due to the new award and visibility. We got right in and were well taken care of. Very happy to see a family run business get the recognition and boost. The hard work is paying off. Side note and extra kudos. They source their meat from a local locker so supporting this local business is also indirectly helping another local Iowa business. Come on people...support local Iowa small businesses like these. 15 ladies with reservations dined in at Halftime! It was awesome! Our waitress was quick, pleasant, and organize. The menu had a great variety of foods to pick from. I had the shrimp dinner with waffle fries. Generous quantity of nice sized shrimp and crispy waffle fries. 👍Several ladies had the hot sausage sandwich. We intentionally waited several weeks after they won the best burger award to give them time to work out any issues. Table of four — we all received burgers that were embarrassingly overcooked — dry and without flavor and a pretty tough texture. The crinkle cut fries were requested extra crispy and we got the opposite…floppy fries that were warm, not hot. Staff was very friendly but under-staffed.
