John Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge — Restaurant in Plum

I never leave reviews, but I HAD to let everyone know how amazing my dining experience was at this restaurant. We were seated in the lounge portion of the restaurant for Wine Wednesdays! The manager (host?) sat us promptly and our server (and the woman she was training — sorry I forgot your names!) was very friendly. They gave us the perfect amount of time with the wine list, and we ordered appetizers. The wine was delivered and so was our fried zucchini (YUM!). The server checked in to see if we had questions about the entrees and we ordered our main course. The food was exceptional and wow, the service was just great. I had almost given up on exceptional dining experiences and yesterday’s meal really exceeded all expectations. The point (finally!!) of this review is to say that it’s been YEARS since I’ve had a perfectly coursed meal - as we did yesterday evening!! I have been in the service industry for well over a decade and I can honestly say it felt like we were the only people in the restaurant with how perfectly our courses were spaced. It was so enjoyable to not be rushed through a meal. Both of the women were attentive (but not overbearing) and checked in after every course. We went today for the first time with our daughter. When we walked in, we were seated immediately. Jenn I. was our waitress & brought us menus & drinks, & I asked then for an appitizer, saying we were ready to order. She said, "Sorry, I still have two before you." However, we waited for over 30 minutes & she still hadn't taken our order. She did manage to glance over several times & clean off some tables. There were other waitresses there & they were not that full! Much to the time she was in the back, out of sight. We left & ended up stopping at King's Family Restaurant. I mention this, because this waitress could absolutely take lessons from Beth, who is the absolutely wonderful waitress we had there. Beth was extremely pleasant, kind, quick, & impressively efficient.

• Change review to ZERO! As soon as she seated us & asked about drinks, I asked for bruschetta. I made a definite point of asking for no peppers. My husband can't stand bell peppers & our daughter is very allergic to them! How incompetent are you when someone tells you this, & you serve with bell peppers cut into little pieces?!!! Thank Heaven we went to King's after & I took the bruschetta home...

We’ve given this restaurant two different chances on two separate occasions. A while back we ate in the restaurant and the service and food were extremely poor. It was dark and dreary in the bar area. We figured it was post Covid craziness. We didn’t complain but just paid the bill vowing not to go back again (even though it is local to us). I called again today wanting to place a take-out order for pizza and stromboli for a small family gathering. I called at 3:30 and said I’d like to have the order at 5:30. I was told they couldn’t take my order early and I’d have to call back at 5:00 to place my order because they wouldn’t know if they’d remember to put it in at 5:00. I understand places get busy but it must be nice to be able to turn business away during a time when other businesses are struggling. Apparently, John Anthony’s doesn’t want or need...
