First I have to say I have been to Palmieri's to get food to go before and I ate there 2 or 3 times. Each time before today I was satisfied. I see the paper table liners and the paper placemats, but I was able to overlook those minor details. They make a good drink and the wait staff has always been kind and professional. Until today I had no real issues with Palmieri's. Unfortunately today totally changed my mind about doing business there. I ordered a cheese steak and asked for it to be well done. I also ordered half a dozen garlic wings and a half a dozen Cajun wings. This is the same thing we order all the time. I was hungry and I said Palmieri's! I live in Penn Hills, but it is still a 20 minutes drive to get there. I say that to show that I will travel for good food. Well today my trip was in vain. My food was in styrofoam containers wrapped in plastic when I got there, which is fine if I didn't have French fries. Needless to say when I finally got to my destination the fries were rubbery. The cheesesteak was oily. Like oil seeping through the bun. The Cajun wings smelled Cajun and that is about it. The little seasoning they put on must have sweated off in the hot Styrofoam box wrapped in plastic wrap. The garlic wings were a little better on the seasoning but not really. Well seasoned chefs should know to allow for the seasoning to melt off if they're not going to vent the boxes. That means add more seasoning. Honestly I was just a little disappointed with my experience until I spoke to John. John is a manager. He stands behind his product but was willing to replace the cheese steaks that was greasy as I don't know what and the rubbery fries. But what about the almost $15 I spent on wings that were very poorly seasoned? He said "maybe you just don't care for our product that we put out." Which makes absolutely no sense. Either you have been to Palmieri's before and liked it or someone told you to go there. It's not a place you just stumble upon. It's not located where you would even be looking for a restaurant. John was very combative like I was coming for him personally. Everyone is allowed to have an off day. But don't just try to tell the customer it's them who just may not like the product. Chalk it up to your chef/chefs had a bad day with this order, replace the order or give the money back. Those are the things a good business person would do. It's about the repeat business and the word of mouth. I've never seen the place super packed. They shouldn't run customers away. I'm severely disappointed in this visit. I'm mad that it turned out this way. I will let the regulars I know, know exactly what happened today. I wish the exchange would have gone better. I really have a sour taste stemming from very poor managerial...
Read moreMy family and I have gone to this restaurant several years in a row for a familyChristmas dinner. The food was average, but the service is what really turned me off to this restaurant. One year we had a table of over 20 people and at the end of dinner the waitress brought out several pots of coffee and a cart full of desserts, parked in the corner of the room, and said here’s desserts and coffee help yourself. This sort of thing could be overlooked given that we were very large party, however this past year really soured me on this restaurant. My youngest brother was eating with us and he happens to have down syndrome. He’s 26 years old so not a little kid. When the waitress brought menus she gave a menu to me and a menu to my cousin and a menu to my sister, skipped my brother, and continue giving menus down the table line. I gave my menu to my brother and asked her for another one. She responded that she already gave me one she thought. And I said “Yes you did but I gave it to my brother because he’s a person too.” I will overlook a lot especially when I realize we had a very large party but blatant ignorance cannot be overlooked and I...
Read moreI have been pleasantly surprised each time I've been here (this is like my 3rd time). The restaurant has been there forever and is never packed, so that has made me hesitate. Boy, I will never hesitate to go here again. The service is always excellent - friendly - while not too much that it's overbearing; and they are knowledgeable on what food they serve. hey Now the food...delicious! Tonight, we had the prime rib and WOW! Great size, flavor, and price. I would prefer deserts that are homemade, but that's hard to find anywhere lately. They have Moio's cake, so at least they're not those desserts that you can get at most other restaurants; but still not homemade. This didn't bother me enough to take a star away, though. And though the restaurant is older and has older stuff in it, it is cute & clean. And I LOVE that they are never packed. Makes it cozy. Update from 07/24: Everything is still great!...
