I grew up in the Williamsport area and am planning on getting married this fall in Sullivan County. We needed a place for our rehearsal dinner and several of my local friends recommended Pier 87. I hadn't been there since the flood in 2011, so my fiance and I decided to check the place out. It started out great. The place was hopping since it was father's day and there was a very festive atmosphere. It seemed almost perfect for our event. The craft beer selection was pretty limited, but I was able to get a can of an OK local brew and we both got water. I was surprised to see that they had a lobster and shrimp ceviche appetizer, but we ordered it and it was fantastic. At that point, our waitress dumped us off on another waitress and it all went downhill. She promptly took our order...fish tacos and a "Rachel" sandwich with onion rings. My fiance and I got caught up in conversation and began to realize it was taking way to long for our food. We noticed that people who had arrived after us had ordered, eaten, paid, and left the place while we sat there. We weren't even offered refills on our drinks. About the time we realized our food wasn't coming, we saw the new waitress realize the same thing. Instead of coming to explain and apologize, she snuck over to the computer to enter our order, then whisked by our table with an insincere apology and said that "our food would be ready in a minute." At that point I told them to cancel the sandwiches as we had been there over an hour. Only excuses were given and no attempt at making things right. She even tried to have us wait and take our food to go. To top it all off, as she was getting our check, another waitress came in off the patio and dumped beer down my fiance's leg and just said "Whoopsie" or something to that effect. It seemed like it was in retribution for us demanding to not to pay for or eat the food we waited so long for. We ended up getting some pretty amazing cheesesteaks from Big Mike up at the Forksville General Store, so the day wasn't a total loss. And we decided to rent a pavilion and bring our own food and beverages instead of relying on the service staff at any restaurant, especially...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst time being home in 2 years and wanted someplace to get dinner with my family. Our party, at first consisted of 6 people. We called and made a reservation for outside seating for dinner. Our party eventually grew to 10 then 15 people. We called 2 more times to let them know of our additions. They gladly accommodated.
When we arrived we were seated immediately even though it was obviously very busy. We ordered drinks and appetizers then made our way to the "beach" area during the wait. The location is stunning. There was live music and a great vibe. It took a little while to get some of the more mixed drinks and appetizers but it was very busy. We ordered our food and just enjoyed the location. All in all it took about 2 hrs to get our meals but they did not disappoint.
I ordered the Fried Haddock with fries and slaw. My mother ordered the fish wrap. Both came out amazing. The fish was some of the best I have had this side of the Atlantic. Portions were large. We also ordered the fried pretzel for our appetizer, which was enormous and tasted amazing.
I was very pleased with our waitress who even tbough was very busy took time to chat and make sure all was well. If you are looking for a great meal with great views and service I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to have my bachelorette party there because of the atmosphere and live band so I was super excited, as was my bridal party. Unfortunately that did not happen! Our waiter was absolutely amazing but the men bartending both inside and outside were absolutely awful! Mind you, myself and party were very respectful, patient, and understanding that these are hard times and staffing is an issue which again, is why were patient and respectful but did we get that in return? Absolutely not. They were rude, had bad attitudes, and made very inappropriate comments to numerous people within my bridal party many times to the point that I had to say something to the one guy. We made the best out of it within the party but the men working made it an awful bachelorette party and experience and I donāt recommend going there to celebrate anything! Shame on them. We wasted time and money! Also, majority of the girls live out of town so to drive all over the area wasn't an option when they were going home that night which is why we were set for the Pier. Overall, awful, aside from our waiter and dinner. Disappointed and dissatisfied is an...
