Food was delicious customer service was disgusting. I'm only giving the 1 star because the food was really good and the service there was actually pleasant at the counter. My boyfriend decided to bring me here as we are both kennett square locals but I personally hadn't been to the market. We came for donuts but decided to have lunch. Everything went well until we went to the check out counter. I lost service and needed to reach my mobile banking app so I sat my ticket from the counter and items down to step outside where I could do what I needed to pay. The woman at the counter at this time is already very agitated at the fact we are standing there not purchasing i assume because she was repeatedly asking us if we were purchasing while huffing and puffing. After I stepped outside I notice a random state police officer sitting just outside the cafĂŠ at this time near the door where I was standing. Odd but I thought little as I was more concerned with paying for my lunch. When I stepped back inside after about 2 minutes, my boyfriend was very upset and tells me that the lady had gone next door to the cafe side to ask the staff if we ordered food because we had a ticket but did not pay for it as if we were trying to steal or something. This completely blew my mind as we didn't even receive the food yet, I had grabbed an iced tea which I left on the table with the ticket and my boyfriend while I stepped right outside the door. Now I go to pay and this lady slams the paid stamp on the counter rudely with an attitude clearly not wanting to wait on us. She then to add insult asks us if we're "local". As if to really say.. I've never seen your kind around here before. At that point my bf clearly asks do we look like tourists? The lady takes my card then rudely asks if I wanted a bag like "do u need something else". I stood there for a moment stunned at what I'm seeing/ hearing because I'm a business manager myself. She rudely repeats do u need a receipt? Do u need a bag? I said no thanks and just returned to the cafe side for my lunch. I thought the worst was over and could enjoy my lunch now at least, but nope. I ate half my sandwich when they sent a young girl to "clean up the table" while I was obviously still eating. I was seated all of 3 mins when I was asked if I wanted a box to go. YES PLEASE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO BE ANYWHERE IM MADE TO FEEL UNWANTED BECAUSE OF THE WAY I LOOK OR THE COLOR OF MY SKIN. Northbrook market place ONLY WANTS TO SERVE THOSE THAT LOOK LIKE THEM. I guess me being a 42 year old black woman isn't their demographic. I WILL NEVER GO BACK! A STATE POLICE...
Read moreI'll start with the positives, as there are many negatives. A very friendly man offered us samples of kombucha and was very helpful while talking to us. Homemade apple cider donuts were delicious. Other than that, out of seven people, none of us liked the food we ordered. It was clear that all of the food was premade and reheated. The menu was too large for the food to even possibly be fresh. Chicken fingers were reheated and served in a plastic throw away container, while the rest of the food was served on ceramic plates. Somehow, they messed up an Italian hoagie. The banger wrap lacked blue cheese, hot sauce, and ranch, and was hot and cold in different places. The special of the day, honey stung fried chicken, had no flavoring beyond that of regular fried chicken. An order of mozzarella sticks only included 4 sticks that were tiny and undercooked. They came with no marinara sauce, and when we asked for some, it took ten minutes, even though they were just standing around. The people behind the counter offered -no- customer service. They were not friendly, in fact, they stared at us with dirty looks until I stared back. The worst part, the grilled cheese was only grilled on one side (see pictures). It was as if they didn't even flip it once, and the cheese was left unmelted. This is not an experience I would like to...
Read moreI live close to NBMP and I wish I enjoyed supporting this establishment more. I have mixed feelings about it being itâs a place of childhood memories for my husband; stopping by and getting fresh cider donuts with his parents as a child, but itâs also kind of heart breaking because the food and experience is not what it used to be. The food is mediocre, they claim to be âlocally sustainableâ although none of the food they serve fresh comes from our local, sustainable farms (which we have plenty of, if you actually put forth effort into making these connections) but instead is dropped of weekly from Sysco (I see the trucks there often) and unfortunately when I do make the decision stop in our of convenience, Iâm never greeted or feel welcome but quite the opposite, i feel almost like my presence is a burden. Yesterday I stopped in and the manager was working and not once did she greet me, thank me for my business after checking out or seem to put any effort into customer service. The apple cider donuts now taste like soap and the every time I get food I am so disappointed by quality. I am so passionate about supporting local, organic agriculture (like this place USED to) and it just makes me furious reading âsustainableâ on their sign every time I pass by. Nothing but a buzz word for the surrounding...
