I played the Cypress today. First, the staff was friendly and helpful. The cart is comfy, but there’s no GPS and they’re a little old. I didn’t use the practice facilities, but the range was all grass (+). The putting green did appear sad (pictured). From tee to green the course is in wonderful shape. The fairways were like carpet. There’s some spottiness, but nothing that really came into play. The bunkers were a little wet or packed, but our region has been inundated with rain almost every evening for the past 3-4 weeks. The greens are s-l-o-o-o-w… l would guess literally a 7-8. Can’t make that up. But they’re in good shape, with some mild spottiness. Again, nothing that came into play. Most of the rough is only a quarter inch higher than the fairways, except within 3’ of the woods. Then they don’t even bother to cut it. And this is definitely NOT a walking course. Some of the holes are literally 1/4-1/2 mile apart, and maybe more. All in all l loved the course. Wonderful variety of lengths, doglegs and no hole is boring. I can’t wait to return to...
Read moreWe played the Cypress course yesterday Feb. 17, 2016. The experience left a lot to be desired from the reception to the course itself. Other golf courses we have played in the last month and a half, receive you with a warm greeting and assist in removing clubs from the car. No one in site at this course. The pro shop was more interested in getting your green fee then welcoming you as a first time visitor.
Then we had to get our own clubs onto the cart as no one was around even to say which cart to take. The course was in deplorable condition with greens that where either down to sand surfaces and sand traps full of water. One would think that they would adjust the price accordingly and mention these problems at the pro shop, but no one seemed to care. The focus seemed to be getting the green fee and good luck to you and your game. We are average golfers with a 7 and 11 handicaps who now vow that this course will never see us again. Good luck to those who fail to read...
Read moreNew menu & new chef at the Grille in Solivita. I tried the balsamic glazed chicken. I subbed veggie medley instead of sauteed spinach. Very good although a little heavy on the balsamic glaze for my taste so I will ask them to go lighter next time. The veggies could have been a little hotter in temperature.....it probably sat under the heat lamp in the kitchen a little too long. But it was at the peak of the dinner shift and the servers were busy. They could probably use one or two more servers for the size of the crowd tonight. It was for these reasons that I gave only 4 of 5 stars. My server, Santos, was a very nice & pleasant young man. I find all of the servers & bartenders there to be very nice & professional. There are not many dining options outside of Stonegate CC in Solivita besides fast food joints and a very dirty Denny's so The Grille is the default place to go unless you want to drive 10...
