3 de Mayo Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Pontoon Beach

After searching for the popular birria tacos in my area I found this small little side road restaurant, they have friendly staff, we made an order togo and drove about 20 min to eat the Birria tacos that had such great reviews. When we pulled into the parking lot it was full that’s always is a clue that it will be good at least that’s been my experience.

Let me say the barria tacos are delicious,we ordered a cheese dip on the side which was wonderful and the salsa you get had a hot Smokey flavor. I looked for more info on these tacos online and didn’t see much besides the pics, The dish is $16 dollars,seems like a lot BUT it comes with 5 corn soft shell beef tip tacos and consume which is a juicy dip that you are also suppose to drink,it was good but if you don’t like cilantro you will have to scoop it off the top of the juice,the tacos also have cilantro on them I did not know this until I looked,but I picked it off,the beef is so tender,it also had cheese on it and some was burnt or brown from however it was cooked,mmm mmmm good. Nothing else comes with the dish but I can tell you that I could only eat two tacos and my husband only ate three, we could have bought one dish for us both,we did have a nice leftover lunch the next day which btw my husband said he thought they tasted even better the second day. First time ever trying and we order to go our food was definitely not what we thought it was going to be after hearing great things. My daughter took a few bites and had hair in her mouth we then opened the other tacos and it was inside the cheese or meet one of the two and more than just one hair. I get these things happen , I called to let them know because of where the hair was and they just offered me more tacos instead of something else or next credit . I told her no I’m good we lost our appetites and I def don’t want another taco we just had two orders we trashed . The response was well what do you want us to do? Nothing at all I’m good hopefully they checked their meat and cheese that is what I would have liked to hear instead of what do you want us to do ? I am so glad that my friend took me to this place because it quickly shot into the top three Mexican restaurants in the area for me! I got a Strawberry Mango margarita that was so good and fresh and full of tequila, which I loved! My friend tried the aqua fresca and said it was good too. The salsa had a nice kick to it and you could tell it was made in house and I loved that. Then for food, I got the taquitas de 3 de Mayo, which is basically 5 quesabirrias and consume.
