No Wake Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Port Barrington

A group of 4 of us went here for Fathers day. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated immediately, we were given breakfast menus and were told lunch isn't served until noon. We found that a bit odd, but o.k., so we opted to hold out for 1/2 hour and wait for lunch. Our server was very friendly and understanding and accommodating about our situation. A manager came over a few minutes before noon and explained that due to the unexpected high turnout the kitchen changeover from breakfast to lunch would be taking longer than expected, he then offered us some free chips and salsa. We continued to hold out. Our server and the manager took turns coming back to apologize for the wait, informing us that they could not promise a time that the kitchen would be ready for lunch. The manager then offered us another free appetizer if we continued to wait, we opted to accept it and chose the smoked white fish dip which was good but not even close to what we expected, I probably wouldn't order it again. We eventually were able to order lunch. We ordered two different salads and two different burgers. The salads were very good. The burgers were not so good. The burgers did not taste like they were made from fresh ground beef, they tasted like like they were made from a frozen patties or some other cheaper beef, wether they were or not I don't know but they were not very good. I would not get their burgers again. There was a lot of good looking good being served throughout the restaurant and the menu had some pretty good options, all at fair prices. The service was very friendly and accommodating. Although this visit was strained by the wait, I would be willing to come back and give them another chance on a regular day to see how it is. Parking is plentiful. They are right on the Fox River so you can visit them...

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed. It's a shame because the location has so much opportunity with its beautiful waterfront view. They just need to get their act together to match it.

On the positive side, the drinks were great, and I absolutely loved the dog-friendly atmosphere and the fact that they have a dog menu. However, the food service was a mess. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad with grilled chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. My salad arrived without any chicken and no fries. It took about 20 minutes for the grilled chicken to show up after I told our server. The sweet potato fries didn't arrive until we were already on our second round of drinks and getting ready to leave.

It wasn't just us, either. The table next to us had several issues with their order, and another table actually left after waiting for about 15 minutes without even being acknowledged by a server. They mentioned this wasn't the first time it had happened to them.

I appreciate that we weren't charged for the late chicken and fries, which was a nice gesture. Still, from a business perspective, it seems like there needs to be a crackdown to improve the flow and overall...

Nice looking place inside. Unfortunately, this is the second time in 3 weeks I came here for the walleye dinner, can't get anyone to take my order. You have to ask for everything 3-4 times. The first time I got my meal 3 minutes after I got a salad, after telling them I didn't want to put my order in until I finished my salad because I didn't want to eat out of a machine gun. They said they have to put the whole order in at the same time, but there would be plenty of time before the dinner came out. 3 bites of salad "Here's your dinner" Tonight, couldn't get a drink order in for 15 minutes (4:00, not busy at all) had to ask for a menu 3 times. Been here twice for walleye dinner, still haven't tasted it. ( Had to refuse it the first time or eat cold fish) Too bad, I've heard the food is good here, I just can't seem to get any. UPDATE; Since the owner left a smart assed response. No, everyone doesn't get a 2 star review. When it's really bad and disrespectful, you get 1 or no stars. If you knew how to run a restaurant, you would get rated higher. I'm not the first to criticize your poorly run establishment. Your attitude reflects on this below average business. Maybe you should sell it to someone who will turn it into...
