Yesterday, 10/20/22, was our first visit to Granite Run Taproom. It was a surprise visit, as we had a reservation for 16 at Lee’s Landing for a wedding rehearsal dinner which had been confirmed since 8/31/22. As we arrived as Lee’s, they had closed for the season and disregarded our reservation completely with no notice. We immediately looked for other options in the area and called Granite Run Taproom, as they were one of the closest places to Lee’s and were open. We were told that there was no issue accommodating our party, even at the last minute, so we came to Granite Run as a group of 16 for dinner.
We were sat immediately and our server Diana was on point getting us waters and putting in our drink order. Drinks came out quickly and our food order was taken, both appetizers and entrees. The appetizers came out hot and fresh; the cream of crab soup was excellent and the nachos and wings were a hit. There was a very slight delay in bringing out entrees for our large party, but as a previous bar manager and server, the timing is very hard to nail down for a party this large with other tables seated and also waiting for food. This was no issue for us as we were having a great time listening to Jules Jams open mic night, which was absolutely fantastic. Shout out to Jules for taking requests and being amazing entertainment during our meal.
We could not have been happier with the service from Diana, the bar service for drinks, and who I believe to be the manager helping run food and ensure a happy rehearsal dinner experience.
From the last minute accommodations, to the great drinks and food, and fabulous music and service, I could not recommend Granite Room Taproom enough. We will...
Read moreGood food, mostly good service, don't always have what is listed on the menu. Husband and I went when they FIRST opened, but only stopped to have a drink before heading off to a dinner reservation somewhere else. No complaints about that visit. Dropped in on their St. Patrick's Day celebration without realizing it was St. Patrick's Day, but still managed to snag a couple seats at the bar, order, eat and be gone before reserved bar seats needed to be vacated for the evening festivities. Food that day was excellent, service was a real mixed bag. A shortish, stockyish male bartender with an earring and tattoos who was working behind the bar had a tendency to completely ignore people, and focus only on a few. Which meant we almost walked out because it didn't look like we would be waited on, but thankfully a female bartender came to the rescue, and provided excellent service. Went again tonight, because the food was so good last time, and we were willing to give them another shot. They didn't disappoint. Food was excellent and so was the service, even though it was mostly only one woman who was covering everything. The only disappointment was that the first two choices of entrees that my husband wanted to order were not available, and they don't really have that many entrees to begin with. But being the bar foodie that he is, he was more than happy to get a cheesesteak that more than satisfied (and their fries are REALLY good. . .as is the shrimp in the Shrimp and Grits entree!)...
Read moreI had a bad experience at this establishment.
Paid $62 cash including a 20% tip for a meal for two by placing the money in the folder that your bill comes in, left it at the table and went up the street to Lee's Landing to hear their live music. A waitress, not ours, showed up at Lee's fifteen minutes later while we were standing outside at the water and accused me of not paying the bill. I explained that the bill was paid, however the waitress persisted that I left without paying. The lady I was with was embarrassed by the scene and paid the girl for the meal again, which I did not think she should have done. How did the waitress know that I stopped at Lee's? I don't know. What happened to the money I paid for dinner? I don't know that either. The whole incident was bizarre and strange, and unsettling to the point that I won't be going back to Granite Run Taproom in the future for anything.
Incidentally, the food was mediocre, the outside patio we ate on was all but empty and the were no more than 15 patrons in the place when we left. This was on a Friday night. In contrast, there were over 200 people at Lee's Landing just up the street. I think that says something about...
