Riverton Station Pizza, Bar & Grill on Forest Avenue is a real gem in Portland! During my travels I stopped in both nights for my meal. The food was great both nights — fresh, flavorful, and great specials to boot.
What really makes Riverton Station stand out is how local it is. On my first night, I had a pleasant conversation with the owner, who was quick to give me some of the history around the area and the restaurant. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel welcome, and you can tell it focuses on being apart of the community, not just another restaurant.
On my second visit the atmosphere was very laid back and had some more great conversation with some locals and employees at the restaurant. Before leaving I was sure to purchase a T-Shirt and Hoodie to support the local business.
Upon arriving back at my hotel I had realized I received the wrong size hoodie. I called the restaurant, 20 minutes after closing... Jamie, the owner, still took my phone call and wanted to make the situation right. Told me to stop be the next afternoon. To my surprise he called me earlier in the morning and made it happen. So if that doesn't tell you the kind of people they are, I don't know what will!
If you’re looking for great food in a laid-back, local atmosphere, Riverton Station is the place to go....
Read moreI don't often give poor reviews but this one is warranted. From our experience, the quality of the food here has been on a steady downhill slide. The last two times we came here, the latest being yesterday, the food was just, well, bad. I ordered a $17 cheeseburger which was an absolute joke compared to what we used to get here. I always order them medium and in the past, they were large, juicy burgers cooked a perfect medium with nice cheddar on top. The one I got yesterday was a small, thinner burger burned all the way through - extra well done. Dry and flavorless. It also had American cheese on it (aka "plastic") which is a major turn-off. The fries here are notoriously sub-par - mediocre at best. The three other people with me were all disappointed with their meals as well. Just poor quality. All over-cooked, burned buns, etc. Yesterday was a final test for us, and we won't be going back again. We did not complain to the staff because that's not the kind of people we are. We don't want to cause a scene or get anything for free. We do expect to have it done right the first time and on a consistent basis. Too bad because the venue and the staff are super nice, but with so many other, much better choices it just makes no sense...
Read moreI decided to order a small pizza because the pictures & prices looked good. I got the pizza and was charged almost $19 for a small two topping pizza. Per the menu, a small is $9.95 and $1.95 for each topping. That should be about $15 and change. I know a few bucks doesn’t seem like a big deal to some but when I am paying close to $20 dollars for a 9 inch pizza with barely any sauce or toppings, it annoyed me a bit. I say 9 inch pizza because it was small the crust didn’t even reach the edge of the box, and I couldn’t even tell there was bacon on it. I called back to get a price break down and said I am going to leave a review, then the owner called me. He said he hasn’t had the menu updated yet with the changes because it’s “an act of congress” and that he uses all fresh ingredients unlike most other places… I feel like Portland has hundreds of options that all use fresh ingredients but I digress. He told me he will give me a $3 credit if we come again and I thanked him for calling me because that was nice of him. Overall though the price was ridiculous for the smallest pizza I’ve gotten from a restaurant with little toppings....
