Homan's General Store-Potters — Restaurant in Potter Township

I have had cold hoagies and sides here many times and the food and service has always been good. I stopped in recently and decided to try a cheese steak hoagie. I asked the teenage boy working the cash register about topping choices and he replied "just fill out the paper". He either didn't want to be there at all or he was bothered that he actually had to answer a customers question.

I took a chance and ordered the cheese steak. I can say without hesitation that it was the worst steak sandwich I have ever eaten. The tomatoes that I requested were missing, the small amount of meat was cold and the roll was very soggy. Apparently "just filling out the paper" is no guarantee that you will get what you want. I guess the teenage girl making the sandwiches didn't want to be there any more than the boy did. The cookies were over baked, dry and crumbly. The only good part of the meal was the pasta salad.

The quality of the food and customer service here has taken a dramatic down turn since the last time I ate here. Some retraining of the young staff is badly needed. This place gets very busy at times. Since busy Route 322 goes past the store they get many customers from out of the area. I frequently work in the area and stop here sometimes for lunch. When the bypass is complete it is safe to say there will be less business from people traveling through the area. At that point the business will be patronized by more local customers. The older lady who suggested a 12in sub for my BF and I to share while on the road was very nice. The 2 other females were very unprofessional. From leaving me to attend to flirt with a delivery driver. To the other one putting one piece of salami (on an Italian) and a piece of cheese on a bun and called it a sub. No lettuce, tomato, onion, nothing! And then when we finally opened the bag to eat it, I called back to the girl rudely saying it's not their fault! Well, we weren't behind the counter... So? Who's fault was it? Very unprofessional! I liked it better when ya'll actually had adults working there! The baked goods aren't even good anymore! Definitely a waste of $32! Very disappointed! We won't be back and we will definitely tell our family and friends not to go there...

i stop in here on my trips from Belleville to get produce from the Amish. i love this charming store. Sometimes it gets very busy. At such times, the service can't be too quick. But then you have more time to wander about inside and look at this food item or this curio. i love this place and the staff. My wife and i had cheeseburgers. Really tasty stuff. Their deli selection is wonderfully eclectic. Their coffee is brewed just right. (Rich Coast) By all means come here often. The gas pumps could use some modernization. You have to pay inside.
