It's THE place for great food, outstanding service and the down-home atmosphere you just don't find in America any longer. Tami the manager, is a bit of a local celebrity, with regulars traveling sometimes hundreds of miles to eat with her at the Sundry. Don't be surprised if a young person or two, or twelve, come through the Sundry's door to give her a hug, tell her they love her, and talk about their day while she makes them all Tin Roof Sundaes, or "double-dips" of their favorite flavors. "Tam" runs a tight ship, making sure the food is perfect, the Sundry team is exceptional, and that every guest feels welcome special and appreciated. The wide selection of diner/cafe inspired choices, with comfort food being their mainstay, brings a whole new meaning to napping weather, if you are picking up what I'm laying down? Fresh baked pies, cakes, desserts, and breakfast treats are always available as well as "grab and go" hot breakfast burritos, and the best cabbage burgers since your grandmother made them, stocked in the freezer for you to heat and eat at home. Missy, the owner and head chef, is AMAZING! She will wow you with her off-the-cuff creations, and is always thinking up fantastic new dishes. If the Sundry has it, they'll make it for you! All you have to do is ask. Seriously... Don't see what you want on the menu? Just ask for it! Want a meal so big it will be served on a platter? They have you covered. Maybe something on the lighter side? Try one of Missy's yummy salads with grilled chicken. They're huge, and delicious.! Half orders are also available too! It's not uncommon to hear a hungry hardworking local tell her, "just make me something yummy, I trust ya." And, she'll nail it everytime like some wisk wielding mind reader. Mmmmmmmmm, everything's so good... You a bacon fan by chance? (Silly question, right? You'll understand why I asked after you take your first bite of their bacon! It's remarkable, to say the least. If you're passing through, or just short for time, phone in your order and they'll pack it up to-go for you! Did I mention a large Tin-Roof sundae, has SIX SCOOPS of ice cream??? Chocolate and vanilla ice cream, smothered in marshmallow sauce and chocolate syrup with your choice of with or without Spanish peanuts. It's the quintessential sundae that all others will be compared to, from the moment you try one. They have a two scoop "Mini-Tin" sundae that is just the perfect size, after a Grown-up Grilled cheese an a side of buffalo chips (fries.) Swapping out or adding strawberry topping or caramel sauce makes a nice local twist on them too! Don't ask me how I know that... I just know, ok? Come on down to the Sundry, tell 'em Joe sent ya! (Missy caters as well! Check out THE FARMERS DAUGHTER CATERING, or just call The Potter Sundry directly to speak to Missy, about making your special day...

Dearest Foodie Friends,

Oh, the sheer joy of a jaunt into the heart of small-town Americana! My latest culinary adventure, by your delightful report, led to Potter Sundry, a veritable jewel box nestled in the charming embrace of Potter, Nebraska. And what a discovery it was!

From the moment you stepped through the door, a wave of genuine warmth enveloped you. It's the kind of place where the air itself seems to hum with friendly chatter and the aroma of good, honest food. For your morning repast, you indulged in their breakfast offerings, and let me tell you, that speaks volumes! Not a fussy, over-complicated affair, mind you, but rather a testament to the simple perfection of well-prepared, comforting fare. Each bite, I imagine, whispered of quality ingredients and a kitchen that understands the true meaning of a hearty breakfast.

But, my darlings, the real pièce de résistance, the very reason one practically skips through their doors, was the promise of their legendary Tin Roof Sundae. And oh, it did not disappoint! A symphony of textures and temperatures, a delightful dance between creamy ice cream, rich chocolate, and those glorious peanuts. It was a sundae that truly earns its legendary status, a joyful celebration in a bowl. One simply must experience it for themselves; it's a testament to the fact that sometimes, the simplest pleasures are indeed the most profound.

And speaking of warmth, your server, a true gem named Tammy, was an absolute delight! Her smile, I can almost picture it, as bright as the Nebraska morning sun, and her genuine hospitality, which transformed your visit into something truly special. It's the little touches, isn't it, that elevate a meal into an experience? And not just Tammy, but the other local patrons, too, were so wonderfully engaging. You found yourselves enveloped in lively conversation, sharing stories and laughter. It was a true testament to the spirit of community that thrives in places like Potter Sundry.

Before you reluctantly bid adieu, you couldn't resist perusing their sundry side, and what a treasure trove it proved to be! You picked up some charming locally made gifts, each one a little piece of Potter, Nebraska, to take home. It's such a marvelous concept, isn't it? To support local artisans while indulging in delectable treats.

So, my Foodie Friends, if you find yourselves yearning for a taste of authentic small-town charm, a breakfast that warms the soul, and a Tin Roof Sundae that sings a sweet melody, then by all means, make a pilgrimage to Potter Sundry in Potter, Nebraska. It's more than just a meal; it's an experience, a delightful journey into the heart of mid-Americana that is, without a doubt, worth every single moment....

We found this gem on our way through the area, just off I-80. Delicious breakfast and lunch items, especially the award winning green chili, local eggs and some of the best cheese curds I've ever had, but everything was delicious. We took pie to go, it looked so good but we didn't have room due to their generous portions. Can also get other baked goods, frozen or canned items. Accommodating and friendly service, particularly towards our young kids. Very clean. Very affordable. The public restroom is located directly across the street and is also very clean. Apparently their hours can vary, so call to confirm...

…Just as AMAZING as I remember it, but With an extensive homemade menu and OUTSTANDING customer service; this is a destination eatery. I grew up in POTTER and In my early childhood, I would frequent the sundry for Tin Roof roofs, stationary, and whatever other little items might be for sale. It’s the same thing now, but FITS today’s new and modern age. Highly recommended! Two thumbs up 👍🏽 👍🏽 thanks 1 million for the good memories And keep on shining, Potter Sundry.

Go for the famous Tin Roof Sundae the first time. Then find excuses to go back -- over and over. The dessert selection is delicious, and their entrees are yummy. And the people are fantastic. I haven't been there for breakfast, but if they open at 5 a.m. they must be good. Only a mile north of I-80, this place is worth the trip from wherever you are. It is popular and small, so you will have to queue outside during the busy times.

The Potter Sundry is about as "Norman Rockwell" as it gets. The birthplace of the Tin Roof Sundae was one of our 2024 Nebraska Passport stops, and my only regret was not to get a bigger sundae. The owner had a watchful eye on her flock of customer, and she ensured all were serviced well as she shared historical snippets and her own story about buying the establishment. Totally worth the stop and will do it again!
