Really terrible food and customer service. Obviously they don’t care about the locals at all. I came in midday when NO one else was dining there and ordered a burger and a caesar salad to-go. I specifically asked for the burger medium rare, and was expecting the salad to actually be a normal caesar. When I got home, I realized that instead of what I ordered, I got a thin hockey puck on a soggy bun, burnt to a crisp, absolutely inedible, I couldn’t even cut through it, I ended up throwing it all away. The salad was spring mix (not romaine like a traditional caesar) with tomatoes? and small chunks of chicken. I immediately called to ask for a refund for the burger, but they asked me to come back in for them to remake it? Why would I waste more money driving back to an establishment that can’t cook a simple burger or make a salad the right way? I was then told to call the next day to talk to a manager, I did and the manager wasn’t available but I was again told the only option would be a remake. $35 in the trash at this poorly managed dive, not sure why it’s so popular. Must be the owner is well known in the community or something because the food and service is terrible. The decoration is also extremely tacky and the place was dirty, I sat at a table to wait for my to go order and the table had circular stains on it. Would give 0...
Read moreGroggs has been one of my few surprises in the food scene for the Price area. And not in a good way. I was craving some good brew pub grub and decided on Groggs per the raving reviews. The service was fantastic, but I have to say that's about where the good stops.
I ended up ordering a ribeye, medium-rare. What I got was about the most rare piece of meat I've ever seen that had actually been "cooked." It was so rare that you could see pink in several places without even cutting into it; it was literally red on the surface (raw meat red, not red juices). I know my way around a grill and a cut of meat better than most people, so trust that I know what a medium-rare piece of meat should look like. This wasn't even rare; it was raw, with a slight sear on maybe 80% of the surface. The sides were also extremely salty.
I don't know if they were just having a bad night, or if they had a teenager (or vegetarian) working the grill, but that was the most poorly cooked steak I've ever even seen. I haven't been brave enough to try it again.
I can't say I'd recommend Groggs. There admittedly aren't a lot of food options in the Price area, but there are far better options than what was reflected of my...
Read moreI'm on a tour of Utah's small town diners with my son, and we've enjoyed some truly inspired food so far - until now. The food at this cafe was shockingly bad. The salad was dry and obviously from a pre-made mix, the raspberry vinaigrette was soured and inedible. The steak was badly overdone and dry, with tasteless Chimichurri sauce, obviously from a jar. The burger was obviously from a frozen patty, singed at the edges, as was the bun, and it was drowned in mayo to the point that the bun was mushy, and had soggy jalapeños from a jar (the waitress didn't deny it). Half of the fries were burned and the other half were underdone, even on the 3rd try, and all were tasteless. The waitress made no attempt to apologize or make up for the glaringly atrocious meal, and it cost us over $40 for this mess. I'm sorry, but it takes a special kind of ineptitude to produce a meal, and a cafe, this truly bad. Compare this place to the likes of Taggart's, Idle Isle, the new Lush's BBQ, or just about any other diner in the state, and you'll never eat here again. Update - after throwing up all night changing this...
