We've been here twice now, and the second visit was worse than the first. We tried visiting the first time on July 4th, only to find that they'd closed the kitchen just as we arrived. Our party had a drink, which my boyfriend went and got from the bar, and then we left. Even still, the place has such amazing views, ambience, and an impressive craft beer selection that we wanted to try again and stopped this evening. We got seats at the bar and my boyfriend ordered each of us a beer. He started ordering appetizers and the issues started. We ordered fried pickle slices, and were told those were no longer available. Then we were told the same about the cheese curds. We made alternative selections and moved on to ordering entrees. We'd heard raves from our local friends about the steaks here and that's what my boyfriend was set on- and, of course, those aren't available anymore either. Mind you, ALL of the unavailable items are still on the menu, and there's no signage anywhere warning of the menu inaccuracies. We let the server know we needed more time, as we may head somewhere else for dinner at this point. The server left, and we never saw her again for the 15 minutes we hung around. No beers, no appetizers, no attempt at getting a dinner order- nothing. After 15 minutes, a man that a local told us was the owner asked if anyone had been with us, at which point my boyfriend told him that we hadn't even been able to get our beers in the 15 minutes we'd been there, so we were leaving. It really sucks, because the place looks really cool, the beer selection is stellar, and it's the type of place we usually really enjoy. I'm not sure what the deal has been the 2 times we went, but I know I won't be able to convince my boyfriend to go back before we head home in a week-and I'm not sure I'd roll the dice again. Super...
Read moreEdit (May 2024): Upon going back this yeah, it has not gotten better in the least. The building is still incredibly dirty but this time, the food made everyone in my group very familiar with the restroom. Not only this, but the staff was incredibly rude and the wait was about 45 minutes for an appetizer (normally I give the benefit of the doubt here, but there were only three or four other groups there at the time we were). We had my toddler son with us and upon arriving, I asked if they had a high chair (which they had less than a year ago when we last visited). Our waitress sarcastically laughed, looked around, and said “If you haven’t noticed, this place is kind of a dive- so, no”. I wish I could say something good about this restaurant because it has so much potential, between location, theming, and the view, but now I can’t even say the food is good.
(September 2023) I'm so conflicted writing a review. The food is fantastic (fish tacos, taco salad, and chicken strips are great!) but the place is an absolute dive. It's dirty, lights are burnt out inside, visible dirt caked on the floor (I can't imagine what the kitchens look like), and the outside patio is bowing in the center to the point you actually feel uncomfortable sitting there. Large, fresh cracks can be noticed in some of the support beams holding up the patio. The stairs and...
Read moreI had been wanting to try this place for quite a while. My son and his girlfriend took me for dinner when I was visiting for mother's day. I had been told the fish was excellent. That was not a lie. I had tha fish tacos and my son ordered the fish bites and his girlfriend had the smelt basket. We shared and everything was so darn good. I wish I lived close by because I would go there often. If you do stop in, try the fish it's really good. And our waitress was a charming young lady and she took really good care of us. I will definitely be back. Thanks Pickles for some of the best fish I have ever eaten. / Well fast forward to sep. 16th 2024. I went with three others for dinner. I realize that the Kitchen closes at 8. We made our orders before seven thirty. We ordered fast cooking chicken tenders a burger and an order of fish bites.after watching a lot of food walk past and an hour and a half later and three visits from the waitress apologizing about the wait, and not one thing being brought to our table, except our drinks, we left. And because it was nine o clock, nothing else was open. So We went back to the Soo with out dinner. And because they lost power earlier, nothing was open there either. No supper. Why...
