Mountainside — Restaurant in Princeton

Was on the way home from a Marketplace pick up, wishing there was some place I could stop for a coffee and yummy treat, and lo and behold, what do I drive by but a lovely looking bakery/cafe out in the boonies- Mountainside Bakery and Cafe. Located inside a beautifully restored mansion from 1903, it oozes charm and a lovely, cozy atmosphere. I had an apple cider muffin and a latte and was ready to go eat in my car until I poked my head around the corner and saw lots of seating, with beautiful views and a fireplace merrily burning as the centerpiece of a well designed room. There were large widows everywhere witg great views, picnic tables, a dining area on the patio, books in the corner to read, condiments, sugar for coffee on a counter, a huge pitcher of ice water with glasses for whoever wanted to drink water. It was clean, comfortable and homey. Great home baked goods, nice sandwiches and soups, too. The owner uses top notch ingredients, and has put a lot of care and thought into customer service and wanting to give her customers a welcoming experience. Would be a great place for an event, too. Mountside Café hosted our rehearsal dinner and it was an absolute dream! 💛 From the moment we started planning, Katherine and Alice were so kind, helpful, and genuinely excited for us. The entire staff went above and beyond the night of the event—everyone was so welcoming and attentive, and it truly made the evening feel magical. Our guests could not stop talking about how amazing the food was—many had never been to Mountside before and are now planning to come back! The desserts were incredible, the café looked beautiful, and my dad is still raving about the coffee ☕😍 Mountside has always been our favorite coffee shop, but now it holds an even more special place in our hearts. I had a fantastic visit to this cafe after spending the morning hiking up Wachusett. This cafe is the perfect post hike or bike ride stop. Great outdoor seating and lots of hot drinks and well made comfort food. I recommend the soups, salads, and Mac and cheese. Sandwiches look great but I only got 1 stomach. Yes, I did put that much hot sauce on the Mac and cheese and proceeded to eat all of it. Was it amazing? Yes. Did it give me a little heartburn? Also, yes. That’s why I keep the Tums on deck. My only complaint is they were out of focaccia when I arrived, but that was only about 30 minutes before the kitchen was scheduled to close on one of the busiest days of the year and focaccia is awesome so I understand how that could happen....
