Same good food you'd find at a church picnic! Yes, not spectacular; but quite impressive! It reminds me of the type of overly seasoned dishes you'd find at any good church picnic! Mac and cheese was exactly like one of the church grandma's would make! Thick, rich, and full of flavor. Cornbread was over the top good! Nice and moist, a tad sweet. White pepper gravy was great as well. Seasoning on everything was a tad on the heavy side, but that's how I like it! My wife didn't join us, and I can tell by the seasonings she wouldn't enjoy herself if I returned with her. As far as the meats? The beef short ribs had a nice dry rub on them. BBQ was good, and the fried chicken was so good, I'd smack the last piece out of my pastor's hand. Teriyaki chicken was good. Also, nice mention for the corn fritters. The buffet was nicely clean, they have a glove policy for Covid concerns, everything was easy to find, and the buffet was well stocked, even though they close unusually early on Saturdays. Now the bad. My older son didn't like it at all. Said his bbq was dry. The sauerkraut and hot dogs were an unpleasant experience; as the kraut was sweet. I mean, what the hell? Sauerkraut is supposed to be sour (hence the name) and from the same brine as pickles. Was a little extreme for me. The white rice on the buffet was dry, probably been sitting out all day, and there was a few "crunchy" pieces. The blackberry cobbler was delicious, but it seemed my serving had way too much damp cobbler and not enough berries. Still delicious though, and I would have gone back for seconds, but was just too full. Staff was incredible, BTW. Seemed a little short staffed, but very nice. It's also an older establishment, and you can tell a favorite spot with the locals. That always impresses me. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but there was one waitress, a younger African American lady, that recommended the blackberry cobbler with some ice cream. I had it, and it was good! But what impressed me, is she took the time to come over and chat a few seconds and to see if I liked it as much as she did! Little things like that make return customers! So, why four stars even with the negative comments? It's why I called it a church picnic. It's not spectacular, but you certainly leave feeling content, full and looking forward to the next visit. And rest assured, I'll be back!

This was our first visit and it was delicious! The fried chicken was moist and tasty, the homemade rice and hash was heavenly and the ribs were meaty and delicious! All the vegetables were very good as well. Great collard greens, homemade mac and cheese, greens beans, black eye peas. The salad bar looked delicious and fresh but we passed on a salad. Hostess Allison and server Brandi were very nice and friendly and took great care of us. Looking forward to returning in the near future.

It’s buffet the food was ok not great the so called fried okra was gross along with the mustard sauce the hash was to runny hash should be thick but they have other stuff the chicken livers was great chicken was good also 12.00$ meal

Let me begin by saying that I normally HATE buffet restaurants and I generally find their food to be of sub-par quality, but I always go out of my way to visit Hawg Heaven if I am anywhere near Prosperity. The barbeque served here is easily some of the best I've ever had. There is a massive selection of meats, pretty good variety of vegetables, and the salad bar is surprisingly good for a restaurant that focuses much more on the main course. The value for the quality (and of course quantity) of food is really good as well. The decor is very simplistic, but it is fitting for this type of restaurant. I don't desire various knick-knacks littering the walls, or some fancy red carpet experience when I just want good barbeque. The staff are super nice and quick to refill drinks and get you anything you need. My only complaint is that I leave so stuffed every time I go. Excellent place, worth going if you like barbeque in the slightest.

Try the chicken...

I am from down the road originally from the Irmo area moved back recently from Charleston have been going to farm boys thought I would give these guys a try.. So I made The drive up and if you like old school buffet this is the place..

Very nice girl greeted me with a smile and sat me down which by the way you don't get much of these days.. told me to go help myself.. It was your typical southern buffet except it did have a few things like fried okra It did not have my favorite butter beans or corn on the cob, but they did have cream corn.. my favorite was the hash and rice that was right up my alley It was kind of a semi stringy mustard base not the grit kind that people seem to like around here.. The pork chops were freaking awesome and the chicken was freaking awesome I wish I could tell you the barbecue was great maybe it was a bad day but mine was dry dry.. But I ate enough of everything else that I would...
