Compadres Mexican Restaurant in Pulaski is a small restaurant that was busy on a Sunday afternoon. The inside is clean but a bit dark. The decor isn’t gaudy and is pleasant. I was seated quickly and service had warm chips and salsa on the table fast. The salsa and chips were nothing special but were tasty and the salsa was somewhat plain. The carnitas tacos came and at first it looked promising. But as I dug into them I was less than pleased. It seems that most Mexican restaurants aim to add a sauce to the tacos to make up for a lack of flavor. The meat had little to no flavor, was poorly seasoned, and greasy. The meat was also in too big chunks and had not been crisped up. It needed to be shredded down more. There was a bowl of sauce and a bowl of cilantro and onions served with the tacos on the side. The sauce seemed like a pepper salsa. I like heat in my Mexican food but even for me this was a bit much. While these were not the worst tacos I’ve had they were not the best. After I my food was served I never saw my waitress again. I ended up flagging down another waiter to bring my bill. Then it took a while for him to come back with my change. I actually thought he had misunderstood me and was...
Read moreThis would be a great place to eat at if the management were doing their jobs and making sure there was always someone on the floor or at least up front. but I think they were to busy in the other room or out back smoking or something,Idk. But the place looked clean and the food was alright except for the beef we got,it was so dry and I thought from the picture I had told the waitress I wanted. I thought it was supposed to have some sort of sauce over it. It would have been alot better and easier to have chewed and to have gotten down. but other than that everything else was good. Big portions and the only reason I am giving them the one star because of the one guy was trying to check on us to see if we needed anything and I really don't think that was his place. I believe he was one of the cooks. But at least someone asked if we needed anything. But what really was crazy was when I went to go pay for our food, let's just say I HAD TO GO HUNT THEM DOWN to pay for our food so we could...
Read moreThe place was very clean and the staff was super nice! Our waitress was speedy and smiling the whole time. She was the only one working on a Friday around 2 and she was a beast! She never looked "stressed/busy" despite the fact she had 4 or 5 tables between the whole inside and outside plus take out. The food was nearing great. I loved the Arroz con Pollo! This is probably one of the only Mexican places I've ate in the last few years that had something that resembled Mexican rice. (My areas just uses a pre-made frozen mixed veggies with peas and carrots feels more Asian cuisine.) We added chorizo to the fajitas which was already crispy on arrival (a mistake bc of the sausage grease) so as we tried to make fajitas with it on the skillet it continued to burn. Lesson learned (the sausage should be on the side lol). Queso was delicious with a very generous portion. The white dip was a little off but also huge in...
