I'll be honest, it's all I know how to be, they only live up to half their namesake everything is definitely fried but the tea not so sweet, especially for Tennessee. The meal was basic, overly greasy, country fried steak was tough but not bad as far as flavor, my wife thought the potatoes came from a box but the menu says they were fresh homemade or something like that, okra was good, and the blackeyed peas were great but.. those hushpuppies were a disgrace. Literally just cornmeal deep fried, didn't taste like anything but old grease and super gritty cornmeal. They should have atleast had onion in them but they didn't. They're probably the worst hushpuppupies I've ever had which is sad for county known for its fish fry, and fish fry usually means hushpuppupies. Well these were awful. We waited quite a while to be able to try the food here because we heard so many rave about it, but it's simply not for us and not something we'd choose to eat again. The meat comes in giant portions while everything else is tiny. I'd personally prefer more veggies over meat, again its a personal preference. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive! The cakes we probably the best part of the meal and we tried several different pieces. They were all good except the raspberry, it's the only one we didn't care for. The almond cake was to die for! So, if you love greasy food, this may be the place for you, unfortunately it's not the place for us unless...

This place doesnāt just serve foodāit serves unapologetic, deep-fried happiness with a side of Southern sass.
I ordered the Swiss mushroom burger, which was a glorious masterpiece of grease and gooey cheese. It struck the perfect balance between āI should probably stop eating thisā and āIāll fight anyone who tries to take it from me.ā The fries were textbook crispy, with just the right amount of salty crunch to make you forget about your cardiologistās advice.
And the sweet tea? Oh, honey. They donāt just serve tea here; they serve liquid Southern pride. You could stand a spoon up in itāitās that sweet. In fact, Iām pretty sure one glass of this tea counts as dessert.
But speaking of dessert, for just a little extra, theyāll toss in a hunk of cake so rich, it might as well come with its own will and testament. One bite, and I could feel my insulin levels pleading for mercy. They arenāt playing aroundāthis is cake made by someoneās grandma who believes butter is a food group.
If youāre looking for clean eating, keep driving. But if you want a meal so satisfying it could double as therapy, Southern Fried and Sweet Tea has you covered. Just be sure to schedule a nap and a doctorās appointment...
