Edit: After my review Black Dog reached out to me and it seems they pay attention to feedback and take these issues seriously. Everyone has an off night sometimes and the fact they took the time to talk with me shows they do care.
Made reservations for our anniversary. We’re seated right away upon arrival, although hostesses were not friendly and seemed bored to be there. Don’t think I saw one smile from the 4 of them we interacted with. Been here 3 times and have never had a comfortable seat. Seems like they’ve tried fitting too many tables into the space they have. This time we were in a two person booth on the edge of the Marley bar area. Very tight and small, not much room to move. Service was definitely having some issues this night as it took forever to be greeted. Then we ordered drinks with someone else before our waitress arrived a few mins later. Waitress was very nice but watching what was happening around us the waitstaff were struggling. About 10 mins later another waitress came over and took our order again. I’m watching all this unfold and the manager is standing there absolutely useless. First drink we ordered was awful and tasted off, we ordered another but still ending up paying for a $15 drink we didn’t touch. Drinks also took forever. Once food was finally ordered it came quickly and both the salads and the meals were very good. All the meats taste very similar but it is smoked BBQ so that’s to be expected, still good. I was a bit disappointed with the homemade strawberry shortcake, strawberries seemed past their prime but my wife liked it. Manager did check with us once but didn’t bother to mention our issues, if he was paying attention he’d be able to see what was going on. Thought it was funny that they ask during reservations if it’s a special occasion but never once mentioned the occasion. Overall food was good, atmosphere and service room for improvement. We still made the best of it and enjoyed ourselves but not in a...
Read moreHostes was rude to the couple behind us about the wait in a stark contrast to how she treated us moments earlier. When asked about soft drinks the waitress only replied Pepsi products which with the noise in the restaurant my wife could only barely hear and replied Pepsi as to ask which the waitress took as her order, ok simple misunderstanding. Unfortunately the rest of the experience went down hill from there. She basically tossed our drinks on corner of the table. Before we even ordered my daughter (who is safe serve certified and has worked in the restaurant industry) pointed out 3 safe serve and 2 health code violations through the window to the kitchen. When our food came out the server brought the wrong salad which my son put his fork in to see if it was indeed wrong or he was just not seeing the signature ingredients. The server returned the salad to the line. My daughters brisket was cold and I ordered a pig pen burger, this is a burger topped with pulled pork. The pulled pork was cold which quickly pulled heat away from the burger I had ordered medium but was closer to rare. I normally don't care if I get a rare burger but it being topped with cold pork soon made it distollerable. The manager who I at first refused to speak to was obviously intoxicated and when I did express to her the situation she offered no proper recompense. This is the place that catered our wedding at which everyone raved about the food. Probably...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite place for BBQ, have gone the last 2 years for my birthday. Yesterday I turned 38 and of course ended our night here for dinner! The food was AMAZING like usual. We got... the list is big so get ready lmao Hot honey pizza, fried pickles, hanging bacon, burnt ends, brisket, mac & cheese, corn bread, kielbasa and baked potato... everything from start to finish was absolutely delicious! The only downfall was the fact that 1 we were put in a back corner right behind a register where the waitresses gathered. (Not the worst because we do enjoy the privacy) but it being my birthday my fiance asked the waitress if they do anything special and she explained that we needed to sign up through the website blah blah which we did last year, she ended it by telling him..." well maybe I can get you a free brownie sunday" he didn't care about anything being free he just wanted to be able to celebrate with something special. Long story kinda short lol we were kinda finishing up eating we had tons of left overs and the manager we're assuming.. came and asked "is there anything else i can get you or are you all set?" We were both a little confused but asked for to go boxes. Then the waitress comes over a few minutes later with a bag and asks if we want dessert. We were confused and slightly annoyed but with all that was going on we just paid and left at that point. We'll be back of course but just bummed about the way it...
