First time visit. We usually pick a new random place in Iowa to try. It's a nice location next to the river with outside seating, plenty of space. Inside had a nice small town tavern feel. We have seen many delicious looking pizzas coming out of the kitchen, wished that we tried that. The place was busy just acter 5pm, which we didn't mind plus expected for a small town like this. After seeing all these fresh pizzas and other items slowly coming out, we were getting excited to see these wolfey burgers but was greeted with "there's not much we can do when we are busy but here you go" while handing off the room temperature burgers with cold cheese on them after waiting 75 minutes. I could tell my daughter was disappointed and shocked since we waited patiently without any issues, but she was the only reason why I accepted them because she was super hungry and didn't want a "scene". So we ate our cold premade Sam Club Patties. We aren't daily visitors at any means.. I guess it was a rough day for this establishment. Those pizzas sure did look great. Maybe someday a second attempt will be made much later on. Taught my daughter how to grill the next day. She did well for being a first-time...
Read moreGreat little joint by the river with the usual range of tavern food. The staff were very nice people.
I have a request for the owner.
Please give your kitchen staff a little bit better ingredients to work with. Hear me out on this please.
I had the Reuben, wife had the grilled chicken sandwich. We got tater tots and onion rings for sides. The sides were great, and the sandwiches were both really good as well. The Reuben was made with pre-sliced, coldcut-style corned beef. The bread was perfectly grilled, the ratio of ingredients was spot on, and it came to the table hot off the grill. Now just imagine how excellent this sandwich would be if the chef/cook had some in-house hand carved corned beef to use instead of the Sysco stuff?
The person who prepared our food obviously knows their way around the kitchen, so please give them some corned beef that is worthy of their talent.
Absolutely will go back, this...

Only thing is different was some overly enthusiastic drinkers at the bar. Using a f words to describe things. I looked over their legs where can you find a bunch of young men. I found middle-aged men it was okay it was I guess. movies is more of a family restaurant in a bar I spent 38 years working with tourist. I don't think that they should have been told to go outside but they're grown men truly understand that it's not that kind of movies that kind of bar like the black bear in loretto Wisconsin where I grew up. on Friday night families come in and have fish. older people who talk about the old times. and you might meet a friend it's not the kind of place you go with rowdy guys sit...
