I drive to Dragon House several times on my lunch break because they're near the clinic I work in, and I Ioved their food.
Up until last night the food had been of good quality.
I'm a vegetarian, I always order the same meal, the sesame tofu seschuan with white rice. Two occasion ago some of the the tofu seemed a little darker in color and the edges a liittle hard-the way it gets when it's not fresh.
I gave them a pass that time, because the food had always been great in the past. I even took their menus back to our clinic and posted it on our break room fridge. Some of our staff have ordered from them at my referral.
One my way home last night I called in my usual sesame tofu, seschuan with white rice. I asked if they could please make it fresh, as I had a long drive back, the young man said okay.(I mental noted the bad tofu I received on the last occasion). I said thank you. I'll be there in a few minutes:).
I arrived within 10 mins, paid for my order, he asked if I wanted my receipt? In hindsight that's odd, most restaurants give receipts.
I said it's not ready that fast is it? I had just called 10 minutes ago? He said no, he's still making it. Within seconds the cook handed him my order:( I thanked him, set the bag down opened the bag up and looked at my food, I could not see the quality of the tofu as it was swamped in the dark sauce they use, it was actually almost triple the amount he usually puts on it.
I got home started to eat my meal and after a few minutes of eating it, I noticed the tofu, was really flat the way in the way tofu becomes when it gets old, and the edges were dark, and there was something gritty in the food.
I did not finish the meal last night.
It's 6:31 am now, I've been up 2 hours, in the bathroom forcing my self to throw up any remnants of what had not been already digested!🤮
I did not want to wake my husband, so I desperately fumbled in the bathroon drawer for my baking soda, I poured some in the palm of my hand ate it, washed down with a palm fulls of warm water and ate two tums.
Two of one things occured, the cook/owner tampered with the food due to being irritated that I'd politely requested it be made fresh, or he served old, expired food-of which neither are ever acceptable, or ethical.
My stomach was so sick that I cannot not go back to sleep.
Three hour later, still battling a sour stomach, pain and nausea.🤢

Read moreCame here from the reviews of "best Chinese in Hoke county" I've been looking for a place to call my go-to Chinese restaurant... Kimchee, not allowed to try a sample, so idk yet... Ordered food for the family which included some favorites and new items: shrimp lol mein, house special Mei fun, general TSO chicken, garlic beef and broc, egg drop soup, bean curd schezuan, Mongolian beef w/rice, egg rolls, fried rice and white rice - all totaled 65 dollars. *Definitely tasty! A tad too salty but overall one of the best places around!! Egg rolls were acceptable by my family but preferred not to reorder. The coating on general TSO chicken was a little less dense than we are used to... Schezuan had a thicker, salty flavor but okay. Mongolian beef had some thin cheap beef but flavor was good to go with onions. For the win, BROWN RICE and GENERAL TSO CHICKEN for tonight's favorites. Will keep in my rotation when I want...
Read moreI used to love Dragon House, and would recommend it on the local Facebook foodie groups, but not anymore. My mom and I ordered three lunch combination plates that comes with fried rice and an egg roll- pork lo mein, chicken and broccoli, and sesame chicken- and an order of chicken mei fun. The fried rice was nasty with a heavy vinegar taste, too oily, and salty. The chicken in the mei fun and chicken & broccoli smelled and tasted wrong, like it was old and also tasted like vinegar. I didn't try the roast pork lo mein- that was for my mom, but she said it was off as well. I took a bite of one of the egg rolls hoping something would be salvageable, but it tasted off and the vegetables inside were hard. When my mom called to let them know of the bad food, the woman didn't care. $45 in the trash. I will not be ordering...
