Had been wanting to come here for years, finally made it and was really disappointed. The catfish fillets are huge but really flavorless. Way too much breading with no seasoning. You can taste the grease though. I don't know why it's so greasy. Maybe they take straight from the fryer to the plate without letting it sit or drain. The fries were also bland. My wife had extra greasy fried shrimp and stuffed crab from Captain D's I suppose. I will say, the hush puppies, coleslaw, and sweet tea were decent. The server girl was really nice, you could tell she was new but super polite. All of the employees seemed to have a great attitude. The building itself was interesting. It has a whole log cabin inside, pretty cool. Seemed clean and all that too. Just..... The food kinda sucked. That's what we were there for and it was really a bummer. Would've been nice to have had the veggies from the lunch menu available for dinner but no sides at all at night really. Oh well, top of the river is...
Read moreWell, the catfish WAS very good, I'll say that. But the baked potato it came with was on the cooler side of hot. Potatoes need to be served hot, or how else will the butter melt? The slaw side and hush puppies were also pretty good. The bloomin' onion took an awful long time to come (restaurant was pretty empty) and wasn't real hot. Service a little spotty. The booth we sat in really needed to be re-covered or something as it was on the shabby side. Prices are a little high for what you get. Simple lunch for two, no drinks nor dessert was $40. But the kicker was when we watched a cockroach slowly make its way down the wall opposite our booth. I pretty much lost my appetite right there. I know restaurants can frequently battle pests, but when I see one in broad daylight a good distance from the kitchen, well that just turned me off. I know it's an historic building and quite old,...
Read moreAfter a recommendation from a gentleman I met at Dollar general, we decided to try Katy’s Katfish today. We were hungry and decided to have a late lunch. We were seated and our drink orders taken right away. The waitress brought our drinks, coleslaw and a big basket of hush puppies. I ordered the catfish filet and baked potato and my hubby got the catfish strips and fries. Everything was very good. I’m picky about coleslaw and it was delicious. The waitress offered us more, but we knew we wouldn’t finish our other food, as it was. The breading on the fish was so good and crispy. The fish was cooked to perfection. We ended up bringing home half of my filet and two of the strips, as well as several hush puppies. Our waitress was great and very attentive. We didn’t get her name but her initials were TB. I highly recommend and we...
