I will never ever return to this location ever again. My 7 friends and I made a reservation at Gonza to celebrate our graduation. Our waitress was initially very rude and stand offish. After giving her our IDs to order drinks, she brings over the manager Steven to re-check our IDs. He brings them to a back room with no explanation. To clarify, we are all 21, some are 22. With no explanation as to how they checked our IDs, he returns them and tells us he can’t accept 2 IDs that are from Florida. We immediately question them and offer to show additional forms of ID, passports, etc. We even offered to call the police to verify our age. But they refused. Our group left the restaurant and a few of us stayed behind to talk more to the manager. We inquired about his verification process, which he informed us was strictly visual- no black light no scanner. He refused to let us prove our age with additional forms of ID, and also admitted that he does not know out of state IDs very well, to which I say: figure it out or buy a scanner because you cannot discriminate against us because we look young and because you can’t tell what a legal ID looks like. Our group did absolutely nothing wrong, but we were refused service based on his inability to distinguish what a real ID looks like. This is discrimination based on age; and it is also worth noting that the only IDs he refused were of the two women of color in our group. It is extremely disappointing that this establishment refused us on an assumption that was incorrect and didn’t even give us the opportunity to prove it. It was apparent by the end of our conversation that the manager was aware that we were of age, and was simply unwilling to admit that he was wrong. otherwise we would not have stayed to have a conversation with the manager, we would not have offered to have the police verify our age, and we would not be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We were also frustrated because other customers made fun of us as were having this conversation, saying that we were just mad because our fake IDs didn’t work- all under a false premise created by the staff that made us look like the unreasonable ones in this situation. While they almost ruined our night, we found incredible service at salt n line cabo grill down the street. Whether you are wanting to order drinks or not, I would never recommend this location of Gonza because of the absolutely horrendous and...

Read moreOk let's start by saying the reputation of this place brought me here; I've heard tons of good comments about the place so I decided to try it on Father's day; the reservation process was fantastic, it can be done online via Google and it is spectacular and convenient; we arrived couple minutes before and we were seated at no time, smooth, great service as well so the service was also 5 stars and in of environment and the locale itself is very different and unique, which I guess attract....... that's everything good I have to say about this place so everything was perfect ......if I was not going to eat at this place but this is a restaurant and the reason I came to this place was to eat: the food was terrible! We ordered three different dishes and only 1 of the guest was happy with it; the fish was overcooked and totally charred, the carnitas were not carnitas but shredded pork with tomato sauce, the coconut rice was very uneventful considered what they advertise about it, the salsa was made out of can tomatos and the guacamole was very tiny........and all that before even talking about the price.........really? Mexican food for over $10 bucks a plate and the portion size of an appetizer? Very very dissatisfied and disappointed, this place offers everything to be a potential hit but it is nothing more than a miss at a huge price. Never again, I considered myself very very easy to be pleased in terms of food but I also know a good amount about Latin and Mexican food and this place is totally scratchedoutnof my...
