The Weathervane Restaurant & Lounge — Restaurant in Readfield

We went here as we drove by and were reminded of the past weathervane experiences. We were greeted almost 10 minutes walking Into restaurant. Hostess sat us right next to a very loud family and we had no room to move. Waitress came and was letting us know we could t order certain foods (fine by it). When asked about gluten free she was able to let me know that the fries were not gluten free as they were in the same fryer as everything else, but sweet potato fries were gf. Ordered a gf meal and a sandwich for my boyfriend. We waited over an hour for our meals and when we got them they weren’t hot. I was going to say something but waitress was never around and other workers were socializing with each other. People that came in after us got their meals. Very frustrating. We paid way too much for what we got. We have realized restaurants we grew up with are no longer the same. Waitress Melanie shouldn’t roll her eyes at customers when they chose not to order a dessert and hand payment to her and also tell customers something is gf (sweet potato fries) when in actuality they are fried in the same fryer as everything else. I have been here twice in the last year and have had issues with the food both times. The first time, we had a pizza type thing for lunch which took forever to come out. Then, when it came, the crust was so badly burned that we sent it back and left without eating because we had been there an hour and still had no food. Tonight, I ordered a steak medium rare with sautéed mushrooms. The food, again ,took forever to come out and I got a dry, medium well steak with two onion rings on the top. I sent it back and watched the rest of my table eat their entire meals and begin waiting for the check and I still had no steak. I finally went up and told them to forget it. I didnt want it... I, again, went there, TO A RESTAURANT, without actually eating a meal. To make things even more interesting, I had this nasty looking yellow stuff frozen inside some of the ice cubes in my drink. I brought to the owners attention to which he said: "I don't know how to explain it to you. Its physics." There aren't many choices of eating establishments in that area they serve but, if you could find another one, I would suggest trying someplace else first. They just don't have it together at the...

Usually food is amazing. The service needs help. We've gone several times the last few months, twice we did not have reservations and Had to sit at bar or out in the heat...even though there were 7 empty tables!! Shortly after we had to sit at uncomfortable bar, the next 2 couples came in, were seated at a table without reservations ...what gives? One time we went in. Got seated downstairs at a table.and service was Incredibly good....if there are free tables, 2 hrs b4 closing...you should be seated at a table.. I get the reservation issue. But twice. With 2 hrs left til closing, we couldn't get a table , with 6 to 7 tables available!!, but the very next couple that knew someone that works there could get right to a table. ..not right....we hadn't even gotten a drink yet when they got right to a table...this happened twice...we saw that it wasn't packed so decided to stop again and give it a chance....again at the bar...its uncomfortable in a dress, and husband has back issues.....this is 2 hrs...
