Boardwalk — Restaurant in Redmond

Good beer and food, but hostess at the door does not know how to treat customers. We went today for a farewell with some co-workers, asked for an extra chair and lady denied to get us one. Said restaurant was fully booked, which was not true and mentioned there were more people than the actual reservation at our table. During the 2 hours we were there, many tables were empty with available chairs. Never tried to do anything to get us, one more extra chair, even when we requested it politely. And her body language showed she was kind of upset. Have never seen someone at any restaurant before with that lack of touch and care for paying customers. Friend had to stay standing until someone of the group left to get his seat. Actually ruined some special time we expected today. We didn't call for the manager to not make the situation even more uncomfortable in front of many good friends. But Totally unacceptable. This is incredible really.

Really cannot recommend. Always busy on a Friday, yet understaffed. Hard to just get a drink now. Before it was much better, very informal you could grab a free table and get table service. Even if it was busy, you could stand and drink and socialize. Overly formal now, service is very slow, food pretentious and often dry and over salted, can't even get a diet soda. Expected much more, if I want this level of formality, I'd Uber to John Howie!

UPDATE: Had an overpriced Lobster roll today - almost broke my tooth on some shell that was left in the roll - their answer 'it's shellfish so there may be shell in your roll'. Really? Pretty sure most other good chefs can...

This gem is located in Microsoft campus but is open to all. It has some of the best cocktails and the most kind staff. They change seasonal drinks and menu which is a plus and we always look forward to it. We have had potato waffles which are lip smacking, nachos which are crispy and rightly balanced with guac, cheese, jalapeños and other toppings.
