When I live out of state and visit back home, my family knows to have Pizza Wagon pizza sitting on the table when I walk in the door, or it's a failed visit. I've lived in 7 states and eaten some pretty good pizza. But there is nothing like Pizza Wagon, it is in a class by itself. There is one crust size and it is ample, there is plenty of sauce and it is wonderful, and the toppings are plentiful and amazing. Jeez, now I'm in the mood for Pizza Wagon just writing about it! I grew up here, I've eaten it all my life, I can say without hesitance that there's only been one change to their pizza in my 50+ years, and that is instead of a slab of cheese down the middle of each slice, now they have shredded cheese. That's it. As a teen, I had dates that consisted of sitting in their small gravel parking lot eating pizza, and that was an acceptable date. I've heard outsiders say they don't like it, there's too much sauce or the crust's too thick, that's ok, but those of us who grew up on it, and those who've come here with open minds to what pizza can be, we love it. One of those "hole in the wall" places only the locals know is awesome. Also, they now serve subs, salads, sandwiches, sides, a whole host of Italian-related foods and American take-out food. I don't eat a lot of that stuff, but what little I've tried is as good as the pizza. The only drawbacks from a modern person's perspective are 1) they still don't accept anything except cold hard cash, which I guess is smart from a business perspective, and 2) their drinks are still in the coin-operated machine outside the order window. But, again, that one adds to the country charm...
Read moreMy Aunt owns this Pizza Wagon, and as a food critic, This has the best chicken Wings I've ever tasted with the honey and garlic, and I've had the first Garlic Knots, and they're first doughnuts (Temporary), or as my relatives call them UFOs (Unidentified Fried Objects). Pizza is wonderful too, and the best bread sticks, especially with Hot pepper seeds/flakes on them. Yinz, new customers, if you ever order their wings, or other food it's going be...
Read morePizza Wagon has a great crew and a decent pizza, I would suggest adding on a side of pizza sauce for dipping! They also have good wings and fries. The crust is very interesting and I would call this "pizza cake". The crust is thick and reminds me of a eating a cake, since it's so thick and has "bumps" with pockets of cheese, pepperoni and sauce. Note this is a take out only place, but worth taking the drive to pick up...
