I want to preface this by saying that this is the first time to my knowledge that I have ever left a review for a restaurant. And that is saying a lot because of how terrible of an experience my family had at the Copper Penny Restaurant in Rhodhiss last night, March 14th.
We were out to dinner for my birthday. We had a party of seven people, three of which were my kids. We walked in (6:35pm) and told the hostess how many people were in our party and she said it could be up to an hour wait. After about 2 or 3 minutes we ultimately decided to go somewhere else because we did not want to wait.
As we were walking out the door the hostess comes back up to us and asks if we would want to be seated at two different tables and we said "absolutely that would be fine". We were sat outside on the upstairs patio.
We weren't greeted by our waitress for at least 10 minutes and come to find out this was due to them being super busy with a limited amount of waitresses. This is and isn't okay at the same time but ultimately isn't the waitresses fault. We were there for at least 25 to 30 minutes before we finally got to place our order. At this point it was almost 7:20 p.m.
By the time that we received our food it was as close to 8:00 p.m. as it could be, another 40 min. My wife's food was cold, lukewarm at best. My food was not hot either. And to top it off they forgot my daughters chicken tenders and french fries.
By the time her food came out (another 15 min & uneatable due to being so hot), everyone including my wife and myself had finished eating. We were a tad bit upset at this point due to having to wait so long and the quality of the food, so we asked to speak to a manager. This is where all went downhill.
The manager that came to speak with us, her name was Chelsea. From the moment she got to our table she had an attitude, was very rude, and at no point offered an apology for anything and instead tried to justify everything. So instead of making a scene like we could have done, we just said "okay bring us the check".
She ended up comping my daughter's meal and discounting my wife's food. When she arrived back at the table with our check there were two half off coupons for a spinach dip and a different appetizer. And as she dropped those off she very rudely said to my wife that "I checked your ticket time and it was 30 minutes" and walked off.
That very well may have been the case, but she did not consider the fact that we have been setting and waiting for almost an hour and 45 min. Before I realized what had happened, the manager was already down the side steps and out of sight. I immediately grabbed our check, my parents check, then went inside and found our waitress and paid for the meal.
I explained to our waitress, who was very apologetic about the entire evening, that although we had to wait quite a while for some things, we were not angry with her. She was trying and tried her hardest given the situation with the restaurant being so busy. I went back outside to our table, ripped up the two 1/2 off coupons the manager gave us, and we left.
After everything that happened, even the waiting, we WERE willing to give this Copper Penny location another try. That is until the manager Chelsea came out to speak with us. Myself, nor my family, will EVER come back to this location. And it is all thanks to Chelsea, the manager from last night.
I would rather drive an hour away to the Forest City location or even further to the Rutherfordton location before I ever eat at the Rhodhiss restaurant again. The way that Chelsea spoke to us is unlike anything that I've ever experienced in a restaurant from a manager.
If she can't handle being a manager in a high stress situation such as a restaurant being as busy as Copper Penny was last night, then she needs to find a different line of work. Because this isn't working...
Read moreWhile I have been here a handful of times with my partner (at least 5-6 times) we’ve always enjoyed our meal and experience there with great food and great drinks. Unfortunately today was not like the other times there was a new manager who made it known she was new and stopped the hostess from seating us to have a conversation about scheduling, which could have waited after we were sat, I don’t blame the hostess for this I do blame the manager for stopping her to have a conversation that only got interrupted by a server apologizing to us this conversation lasted at least 10 minutes. About 5 minutes after placing our order with our server a an older couple was seated at a table next to us, the man making sure it was known they needed a break from their regular server Emmy. Which doesn’t happen while our server was trying to take their order Emmy comes up and LOUDLY starts talking to this older couple about her intimate life, about three ways and booty calls. And when I say loudly I mean I couldn’t even hear my own thoughts, and while I’m a bit more timid in public places my partner is very open. After Emmy leaves the woman of the older couple tries to start a conversation with us which my partner declines and states we weren’t there to have conversations with strangers to which this woman puts her hands on him and he immediately goes to the manager to let her know what’s happening at this point I’m unaware of what the manager has said but with what followed I can only assume it wasn’t handled well. She continues to try to stop us from leaving which was declined and by the time we get to the car she yells for us to never come back. Which in my opinion is the complete opposite of what needs to be done. I hope the owner sees this review and takes the appropriate action which at bare minimum is some sort of training for that manger (who did say she was a new manager) and either a really stern talking to with the server Emmy and hope that it changes immediately or to be let...
Read moreWent for dinner with friends. Host was friendly, server came right away. Ordered drinks, appetizers which were delivered quickly. Ordered dinner, 5 of the 6 meals were delivered- no one said a word about the missing meal. We tried asking the person who delivered the 5 meals but he ran off. About 5 to 10 minutes later our server came by, is everything good.. as she was walking by. We let her know we were missing sauces, we required a plate and where was the missing meal?? Oh, I will see. Walking away. She returns a few minutes later with a plate and sauces, says the missing meal was dropped? They are making a new one. 10 minutes later a young woman comes down the stairs, drops the meal a runs back up the stairs. The meal was cool. I sat a few moments, server never returns so I pick up my plate, go upstairs to look for anyone. I find the woman Amiah in the kitchen area, laughing with a server. She sees me, I tell her the plate she dropped in front of me was cold. She said 'your plate was dropped, we made fresh fries. I have been busy and it might have taken me a few minutes to get back.' So, someone dropped my plate (accidents happen) but you remade the fries?? What about the sandwich?? I handed her the plate and said this is unacceptable. She again said 'I am the only one here and I am busy' I let her know those excuses were also unacceptable. She didn't appear to care. Didn't ask if I wanted a fresh meal, something different.. just let me know she took the meal off my bill. The rest of the group offered to leave, but the food was good so I encouraged them to finish. Our server then avoided our group. When we finally paid and were leaving I stopped the Host, asked for the owners name and when they would be available next? She asked Amiah who in a loud voice told her she wasn't giving me that information I had thrown my food at her, at which time the other patrons all started looking at me! We...
