My family and I have been here quite a few times before and like their food (large burgers and good sized sides, etc.). We happily would drive nearly 20 miles to come get their food. We decided to go last night for a family meal. I apparently went on a day they were training a brand new employee. I placed my order with him, telling him I needed a #1 hamburger meal with mayo, no mustard, and no pickles, with cheese. I also ordered a second #1 burger meal plain and dry. The order taker wrote "D" for dry on the order slip. I repeated "plain and dry, meat and cheese only." He did not write anything else down, but another employee walked up and she asked him about writing down French fries as the side, stating they are the default side and there's no need to indicate it if that's what I want with the meal. While she was there, I once more said the #1 was plain and dry, meat and cheese only. I then ordered a #2 double meat burger, also plain and dry with MEAT AND CHEESE only. This request was repeated several times.
Several minutes later, I was walking out the door with food. My kids were in the car and they were hungry, so I opened the bag to give them some food and checked their burger (the plain and dry #1). I could see there was lettuce on it and it smelled like other vegetables too (probably onion). I looked at the #2 and it was the same way. I went back inside and the female employee asked if the food was alright. I explained to her that I ordered the burgers PLAIN AND DRY and they were not. She found my order and told me the request showed I wanted them dry. I told her I said multiple times I wanted them PLAIN and dry. She then said if I didn't tell them to leave the vegetables off, they put them on. I once more told her that I DID order them that way, saying both plain and dry AND meat and cheese ONLY. She told me the order taker was on his first day and I acknowledged that mistakes happen. I also explained to him that when people say plain and dry, it means just the meat and bun, or in my case, meat and cheese only. I hand the burgers back and a few minutes later, I have replacement burgers and I head back out the door.
I got in my truck and again proceed to open the kids' burger for them to eat. I discovered I did not actually get a replacement burger for them. The cook (owner) simply scraped off the vegetables and handed me back the same burger. I looked at my burger and the same thing happened. My burger had bits of lettuce and onion stuck to the bottom of the patty and bun, and the smell was still very obvious. So, my wife, whose burger was correct and was now getting pretty cold waiting for Giant Burger to make my other food as I ordered it, went inside. She explained that I had just been in there with an order that was made wrong, and instead of preparing the meal properly, all they did was scrape vegetables off and hand me back the same burger. She asked for a manager or owner contact, and the cook (or like I said, the owner) came up to talk with her. The owner then proceeded to argue with my wife, saying nothing was wrong with the burgers.
I'm sorry, but the fact that both my wife and I came into the restaurant to voice concerns about the food we were given should show that something was, in fact, wrong with the burgers. We really are not people who normally want to speak with the manager and we certainly don't blindly follow the "customer is always right" concept, but all we asked for were burgers made without vegetables, and this was feeling a lot like the business was taking shortcuts to keep from making our order properly. Finally, after explaining our kids' pickiness and my food issues with certain vegetables, the owner begrudgingly made two fresh burgers as they had ORIGINALLY been ordered.
With the correct order now in hand, we went home. My wife ate her now-cold burger, my kids and I ate our warm, burgers, and we decided there would never be a return trip to this establishment. We'll just eat somewhere where the staff gets the order right the first two times and fixes mistakes...
Read moreThis is my second visit here. This first time took a while to get food, so I decided to give it another go. Knowing this is during the COVID-19 situation, I thought I was prepared.
I walked in to place my order. Emma was very friendly and personable. I ordered a cheeseburger and Philly cheese steak. There were 4-5 people waiting for food when I arrived (not the problem). Shortly after I ordered, the manager (or store owner, not sure) came in without a mask and walked around the entire back area! Roughly 10 minutes after ordering, a person came in and ordered a burger. By this point, all the other people were served, and I thought my food would be next. Wrong! The gentleman who came in after me got his food before me! At this point, I still was patiently waiting, thinking my food was coming up shortly. I waited for almost 30 minutes before I started to speak up asking where my food was. Emma politely apologized about it taking so long and asked where our order was. I continued to make comments about waiting so long and others being served when they ordered after me. The cook then began to state "they have limited grill space" and "it takes 7-10 minutes to cook a cheese steak." Yet I was waiting 30 minutes! The manager (or store owner) sat in her chair and did not even move through all this discussion! I made a point to be loud about this (there were no other customers there). Other than Emma apologizing, the manager made no attempt to look into the issue or talk with me. I will not...
Read moreI am a burger connoisseur. My friend and I go all over the country trying burgers everywhere. Beauty of being truck drivers.
I had high hopes...but this was a strange burger. Bread was fine, didn't seem stale. I ordered a bacon cheese burger with ungrilled jalapeños. The patty was very odd. It was almost gray, a little to soft, and bland. I think these are pre cooked then rapidly heated up? I'm not sure. The side options add up fast. Combos don't include a drink, very unorthodox. So they can make a "small" meal look cheap. You might pay 8$, but after a drink and maybe a large? 14$. You will get charged almost 1$ for upping ANYTHING. Extra Onions being an example. On that note, they use the chewy exterior of the onion. Texture killer for me. Rest of the vegetables were standard. Fries were standard too, thick but slightly overcooked. Making them greasy.
I doubt I would eat here again. Their method of cooking patties has to be changed. It's off-putting.
They have breakfast options and catfish as well. I'll try...
