Overall the Ice Cream was pretty good, but the service was terrible!
First arrived, came in we took some time deciding what we wanted. After that we went up to order. I got a butterscotch shake, and my wife got 2 scoops of mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone. I then paid $10 for the shake and the cone. We had a friend with us whom decided he wanted one too but didn't have money to pay for it, so I was going to pay for his too. So I asked if they could go ahead and make up a black walnut 1 scoop in a waffle cone. They made up the cone for him, and I handed it to him, and they asked if I needed anything else. I clearly said, no I just need to pay for the cone for my friend. The girl proceeds to make another cone, which I'm confused at this point, as I clearly told her I needed to pay for the cone that I had them make for my friend. So now I have an extra cone that they made that I didn't ask for. I think "no big deal" just an extra cone. Then she asked if that was all. I said yes but I still need to pay. So then she starts pushing all these buttons and takes my card and I pay $16.50. So essentially she charged me for the whole order again, when I was to only pay $5.00 for the two cones. So I was double charged and then some. I was so frustrated at this point I just left, because I didn't want to have to explain this to them because clearly listening is a problem here.
I'm willing to give the place a second go, but this...
Read moreI have been coming to Country Maid Ice Cream for 50 years, and it's by far my favorite ice cream shop in the world (I've tried ice cream places on 3 different continents, so that's saying something). Every flavor that I've tried has been delicious (don't like coffee, so I've never tried the coffee ice cream and can't speak to that one). I will say that their peach ice cream goes from good to outstanding during peach season, so that shows that they're using fresh fruit to make it. I'm not usually a fan of chocolate ice cream, but their chocolate peanut butter ice cream is fantastic. I'd say my favorite flavors, but that would make me type out almost the whole menu. They also have a small selection of sherbets, frozen yogurt, and sugar free ice cream. I also love their orchard store and buy ridiculous amounts of apples in the fall (for my homemade pies and applesauce). They also sell plums, peaches, pears, beans, potatoes, squash, and other produce. Cider, jams and jellies, syrups, candy and other snacks, and some arts and crafts items are also for sale. In the fall, they have pies and apple dumplings--I haven't had a pie, but the dumplings are great. In short, Country Maid has a lot to offer in a beautiful setting with reasonable prices, good quality, and friendly service. I wholeheartedly...
Read moreThis was my first time trying Country Maid Ice Cream. The store was clean, but still in COVID mode, so I am sure it's meant to be quaint otherwise. The staff was pleasant and friendly.
I got a double scoop of Peach on a large waffle cone. The cone was very fresh and the ice cream was creamy and plentiful. And, I did not get a fatty aftertaste on the roof of my mouth, so that was good. However, there was very little peach flavor to be had. I thought with it being peach season, fresh peaches would be a key ingredient; unfortunately, that was not the case. Instead, there was a very, very sparse amount of dried peaches and maybe some artificial peach flavoring to boot. Not sure why, but I believe food coloring may be used to make the peach ice cream orange-colored. Overall, I was disappointed in what I ordered, but I am looking forward to trying Country Maid again, and some of their many other posted flavors. Stay tuned...hoping to upgrade the Country Maid to...
