Tacos El Charro — Restaurant in Richmond Hill

I stumbled across Tacos El Charro and was completely blown away — this place is a hidden gem tucked inside a gas station, and it’s hands down my new go-to spot for tacos. The owner, originally from California, brings that authentic West Coast flavor and passion to every dish. Even though they’ve only been open for eight months, they’ve already won an award from the Richmond Hill food scene — and it’s easy to see why.

The customer service? Off the charts. Super friendly, welcoming vibes as soon as you walk in. You can tell they genuinely care about the food and the people. Everything is made fresh — you can taste the difference in every bite. I ordered the birria tacos, and they were next level. Juicy, flavorful, perfectly crisped — easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere.

So tasty!!! So much flavor. Me and my bf always get the beef burrito but today I also got the tostada (recommend by the owner I believe) who is also super sweet!!!! It was AMAZING. I’ve never had a tostada so that’s going to be my new order and with the burrito :) so much flavor in both and we always say “so dangerous for it to be right across the street” because we will get this a lot 🤣 I will also say, there’s not many good Mexican spots AT ALL in Richmond hill (jalepenos) and others that people brag about are SO MEDIOCRE. I am from Atlanta and been living here for 2 years, go here to get some good authentic Mexican food if you are close by. For some hole in the wall in a gas station this place makes pretty good Mexican food. The birria tacos were great. It had plenty of meat and cheese inside and you get a cup of onions, tomato's, cilantro on the side. The consome sauce was also great. For the price it's more than fair. I been to other spots that charge more and are less meat/cheese packed than what is given here.

Burrito Pic has a marker for scale. Not a big burrito for the price but tasted pretty good. Pic of the eat part kind of shows what the burrito is like on the bottom clearly not cheaped out and packed the tortilla.
