Crab Hut — Restaurant in Richmond

Do not do not waist your time and money! You have been warned! On 6.22.19 around 2pm I ordered #1's and what I got were small light weight crabs for $35.99. I used to come to this plan about 20 yrs ago when the old man ran it...THERE IS NO COMPARISON! I was on my way to the Seafood place across the street from Southside Plaza they had #1's for 32.99 and saw that his place was open. ( I like to support small minority businesses) Never again! When i pulled in the man was chit chatting with another male laughing. I asked for the price and he told me and kept talking to the man. I started to leave because he was so short with me but i backed the car up and parked (something said support your people) I was the only customer there and I was just standing there. He finally asked me did i want the crabs. I guess i just pull up, get out of the car and stand in front of you waiting to be served for no reason huh? He put the crabs in the bag, I paid and left. Never did he care to interact with me. It's just a turn off and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Nobody said thanks, thank you, goodbye. Never again. They have a lot to learn. Went there on yesterday and I called an hour and a half prior to coming about them having male crabs. I was told that the truck should be there within 30 minutes. To give them time to load the crabs off the delivery truck and then cook them I was told to come at 1:30pm. I arrived at at 1:50pm when I get there I was told the delivery truck should be there within twenty to thirty minutes. So against my better judgment I waited . When the truck finally arrives; when I place my order the owner acted as if he had an attitude after I had been waiting for over an hour and a half in the hot ass sun to support his business. When I go back to pick up my order the line was chaotic and unorganized. Last summer I got crabs from this establishment almost every weekend and had never had that type of experience before. And to add insult to injury the male crabs were very small!! ( the smallest male crabs I have ever seen in my entire life) I WILL BE SPENDING MY MONEY...

The wife and I moved to Richmond from Fairfax Virginia in March 2020. We missed going to our favorite crab house, tried a couple of crab houses here and were very disappointed. Then we tried the crab hut and suddenly we could care less about our favorite crab house in Arlington Virginia. We ordered a dozen and a half of number one jimmies and waited as they were prepared. The owner and staff were friendly helpful and professional. The crabs we got were of superior quality. They were fresh, cooked to perfection and chock full of meat. The owner “Q” made you feel valued as a customer. I’m not sure but I think his helper was his son and he was obviously being taught about running a successful business by one of the best.
