We have made a few attempts to try this place and tonight we did just that. I have had bbq from many different states, Eastern NC and Memphis are tops in my book. For the life of me, I cannot understand how there are so many 5 star reviews. We got brisket with slaw on the side. This meat had either a microwaved or freezer burned taste. It was shredded into small bits, unlike the slab you expect with brisket. Add some Smokey flavor for good measure. The coleslaw. Oh dear heavens. It’s dry. Where is the base for this?? And to add insult to injury, overly seasoned with garlic and possibly Old Bay seasoning. And celery seed, which was the ONLY thing that was correct. I make coleslaw. I have made it for years and all my friends and family request it. My mother made good coleslaw. We know how. The one bite I had of this restaurant’s slaw was so overly seasoned, it is all I can taste now. The staff was friendly, so there is that, but let’s face it, you buy food to eat it with a good result. The worst barbecue brisket I have ever eaten. 3 adults and 1 child spent $65.00 and the food wasn't worth $10. The brisket was seversl days old, chopped up and microwaved to a point it was so dry and hard there was no amount of sauce you could have put on it to help. The se ond bite of brisket I ate was so dry it choked me. They gave you a slice of bread that was plain and dry. The macaroni and cheese was as dry and old as the brisket. Your forks were on the table in a metal bucket accessible to anyone and who knows what contaminants and germs. The sides you get were enough for a toddler. Beans were good, but you only got approximately 2 tablespoons. The tea snd pickled cucumbers were good. So if you want to spend a large amount of money for tea, cucumbers and a bite of beans have at it. What a shame to be in the south and they call this place a barbecue restaurant, WTH. Decor and staff are top notch. The pulled pork and pulled chicken are perfect and the potato salad is the best potato salad I have ever had, great portions on protein. Also the BBQ sauces are great compliments to the food. With that being said, I was extremely dissapointed in the Mac n cheese especially for being a premium side, ours looked nothing like the pics previous customers have posted. It was undercooked, flavorless and there was no cheese besides on maybe 4 pieces. The one slice of bread you get with the meals is sad. the awesome cornbread muffins should be what u get free with the meals, seeing how this place is kind of pricey. To serve one slice of bread with that is just ridiculous.
