Olympic Steakhouse — Restaurant in Ripley

On Sunday, 10 DEC 2023, I visited this restaurant based upon the online-raving reviews that it received. I phoned-in an order for a "ribeye steak sandwich" and a "baked potato with cheese and bacon bits" and was told, by the order taker, that it would beready within "20 minutes". When I got there and approached the counter,...first,..."no one" was there to both neither acknowledge nor greet me. Secondly,...I stood there for approximately "10 minutes", waiting, while both waiters and waitresses, looked at me and just kept walking past me. A few moments had passed and a amale/Female couple entered the restaurant and one of the waitresses, whom had passed by me several times, passed by me again, and both acknowledged the couple and immediately, properly seated them, at a table close to where i was standing. Approximately another "5 minutes" went by and the Male, from the properly seated couple, made a comment to the waitress, whom had seated them, that he noticed that i had been standing there for some time. This same waitress seemed "oblivious", to his remark(s),...walked past me again,...and continued on her way. From the kitchen,...I could see a young "Black Woman" taking notice of me. She came out from the kitchen and inquired if I was there for a "pick-up/carry-out". I responded, "Yes". She confirmed/verified my last name for the order, brought the order out to me, and offered me a side-salad, which I declined. She told me my charge, for both the sandwich and baked potato, and my bill came to almost "$20". Despite my astonishment for the charge,...I settled my bill and left the establishment. Neither I nor any of my associates will choose to frequent that place,...

We tried this restaurant again and I have to say my opinion has completely changed for the better. The food was great. Service was the best. I'm glad to see that my first experience was obviously an off day. Great improvement.

The service was stellar. Our server, Lilli was exceptional. The restaurant was clean. Salad bar was well stocked and fresh. I wish I could say nice things about the food but it was just mediocre at best. My steak had no seasoning and was undercooked. I ordered it medium rare. It was served super rare (almost blue). I didn't care for the cheese on the potato. The marinara served with the barely warm cheese sticks was greasy. Olympic is a family friendly restaurant. It has impeccable service, hot food, an amazing salad bar, and to top it all off - the food tastes great!!!! It doesn't matter what day you go or who your server is going to be. You'll feel like that family member people haven't seen in a long time and everyone wants to make you feel like you're at home. The menu is designed for every taste bud. What I really like is that during a time like now when COVID is wreaking havoc, most diners (about 85%) still approach the salad/hot bar wearing their masks. The staff keeps a spray-pump container of hand sanitizer nearby, too. You do NOT want to miss the banana pudding.
