Panichellis Pizzeria — Restaurant in River Bend

Background: Born and raised in Western NY. Self proclaimed pizza and wing snob. Full aware that everyone's taste is different.

Decided to try this after I saw it won some award and had great Google Reviews.

Pros: Friendly staff. Thin, crispy crust. Frank's Red Hot sauce was used for wings. Cannoli was great. Wing prices reasonable.

Cons: Pizza lacked any flavor of any kind. Barely any cheese or sauce. I like light sauce but this was like non existent. We requested wings extra crispy, they weren't.

Mediocre food. I won't return but glad to have tried "award" winning in the area.

Pizza I prefer in this order in New Bern area: La Casetta Famous Paula's Mario's

The rest: Savage's, Bear Town, 37th Street, this place - get lumped together as okay for me.

Again, we all have different taste buds. Also, I don't like chains so they aren't even on the list.

No beer or wine...

We were driving through New Bern a whole year ago and I saw this place advertised online as having the best homemade mozzarella sticks. Unfortunately we were already on our way out of the city and detouring back would have cost us more time than we had available. They were 100% worth the wait though!!! Never had mozzarella sticks like that before but they were definitely the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside and goey on the inside. 10/10. The kids working the counter were friendly, enthusiastic, and efficient. We also ordered a pizza and a Caesar salad and they were both delicious. We're from Detroit originally so we tend to lean towards a thicker crust usually but this was perfect for a thin crust. Can't wait to come back next summer and...

Transplanted from the North, we have been in New Bern for ten years now. One thing we have missed is the good food we used to get up there. But, we have a new go-to here at Panichelli's. As I pass by leaving the golf course, I had never stopped. But now, my wife and I love the food here. Owner Josh is always working his tail off, and the friendly staff the same. To us, the Supreme Pizza is the best in New Bern, and we are on a quest to try out all their offerings. The steak and fries is a nice treat, as are the Jalapeno Poppers, and tonight was our first Stromboli.... delicious. Plenty of filling and a good taste.
