Daisy's Diner Country Store — Restaurant in Riverside

Horrible experience for such a great place! Staff was very pleasant (for the most part) especially the cashier. Little lady was very polite and sweet! But service and the food completely the opposite! Our waitress did not even come to our table until over 15 minutes of being seated. Another lady got our drinks, once the server did approach us she was not rude, yet not "customer friendly" then she did not repeat our order back to us. So in return my food was completely wrong. We also ordered an appetizer that was not brought to us until over 30 minutes after ordering, and only few moments before our lunch! When our food was brought to us, my Grandmother's gravy was cold and had to be sent back to the kitchen to be warmed up. Her chicken fried steak batter had softened on plate because it had been sitting for some time. My husband's burger buns was cold and bread had gotten soggy from sitting. I ordered Chicken Fried Chicken with French fries and okra! I received a plate for a dinner salad instead. My fries were very cold and not tasty at all. But somehow , the okra was amazing!! After waiting sometime for my plate to be fixed I got up and asked the cashier to cancel my order being fixed because my company at my table was almost finished eating! Sucks that food was so cold and had been sitting because the taste was actually good. Oh yes and I had to get up and walk to a young lady at the drink counter to get me a drink because I had been waiting for a refill for sometime. Overall experience was not pleasant which was a bummer because I have always heard great things, and all the staff but one was super friendly and I havevwanted to try it out for sometime. Daisy's is almost always a good bet for tasty, homestyle, southern cookin'. I have eaten here several times as I live in the area. This review is based on multiple visits. Their cobbler is yummy even though it's not homemade (I asked). Sometimes they run out of food. I don't know if this is because they have limited space in the kitchen to store food, inconsistent delivery trucks or poor management of the inventory. Either way, they need improvement in this area. The last time I went, they were out of all but 1 cobbler and they ran out of pork chops shortly after I ordered mine. One time I ordered shrimp and they brought me fish. I told them it was fine that I liked fish too. They made the shrimp too and brought it out and took the charge off the bill. The quality is pretty consistent. Some items are better than others. Their fried okra is just so-so. It tastes like they order it frozen/ pre-breaded and it is bland. It could be much better if they made their own breading (but fresh okra is a seasonable summer veggie and probably not available all year). The cornbread this time was hard as a rock and dry as a bone It tasted like it had been sitting for hours. Their broccoli cheese rice has good flavor, but needs more broccoli IMHO. The grilled pork chop I had this time was good and flavorful. The grilled shrimp and fish I had on another visit was excellent and the blackberry cobbler is delicious. The service is usually prompt and the staff friendly. Overall, Ihey have good food, but I think there is room for improvement in the areas...

The manager at this restaurant is very rude. My family of 6 came in to eat today and we were going to be placed right next to another big table full of loud people. We asked our waitress about putting tables together so we could have space and she said that would be fine. The manager then came over to us with the rudest possible tone, facial expressions, and demeanor and told us that we could not put tables together and that we had to move back to the original table RIGHT NEXT TO the only other large group in the restaurant. We explained we didn’t want to be crowded and she continued to tell us that was our only option. There couldn’t have been more than 15 people in the entire restaurant but she couldn’t allow us to have some space. I’ve supported this small local business for 6 plus years but after the way this lady treated us we will NEVER go back. My advice to the owner would be hire a more professional and kind manger.
