It was such a cool & unique lunch experience! It's their Grand Opening week, and it already appears to be a hit. I just couldn't pass up the BOGO sushi special that they're having for day 4 of this event. It was such a treat!
It's located in Alafia Commons off of Circa Fishhawk Blvd. I'd been anticipating the opening for a while now. Their sushi rolls look so unique on the menu. It's described as American-Style sushi. That's their words, not mine. I totally get that description after trying the Rocked Lobster and seasonal Hot Hot Honey Roll. Each roll was just a blend of tasty flavors. The flavors were definitely amplified (no pun intended) with special sauces and toppings. I think even a non-sushi lover would be happy with it. What I also like is that you have the option of ordering your roll baked or fried for a small upcharge. The same goes with any of the wraps. If you don't like seaweed, then you can get it wrapped with soy paper. It's very different from your traditional Japanese restaurants.
I decided to take home the seasonal appetizer. I really like their signature spicy tuna mix. I could actually taste the vinegar in the bed of crispy rice. It all went well with their signature RnR hot honey (which isn't really hot). It was more like a sweet chili sauce with a spicy kick. It was very tasty.
The only negative for me is that most of the rolls have cream cheese, shrimp tempura, and krab meat fillings. However, they can remove or add any items upon request. The interior is small & cozy, but there's also plenty of outdoor seating. So, perhaps there really aren't any negatives.
The rock theme is fun. The music is great. The service was great. The lunch combo menu is something I'd like to try in the future. The hibachi entrees also look great. I want to try a roll with the Cajun seasoned crawfish next time. There's a rewards program, and take-out ordering is easy through the Toast app. Give it a try if you happen to be in Lithia, or just wait for the Apollo Beach location to open. It's great to have...
Read moreI placed an order for pick up and overall the flavor of the food was good. I just have a few issues with my order as a whole. The first being the sides of fried rice. I understand if they choose to not do fried rice entrees however, I ordered a side of chicken fried rice and a side of steak fried rice (to compensate and make a meal of since I did not want regular hibachi) and they contained the smallest chunks of meat I have ever seen. My steak fried rice only had about 4 tiny pieces, definitely not enough to constitute the $8.99. At that rate they might as well not even offer those as sides, as I essentially just paid extra for regular fried rice. My second problem is that I placed an order for pick up, and they bagged my HOT fried rice in the same bag as my sushi rolls with no barriers in between, making all the sushi hot as well. This was rather unpleasant. Finally the portions of “to go” miso soup are the smallest I’ve ever seen, and are not proportional to the price. I know this is a new restaurant to the area so hopefully these things are able to be fixed...
Read moreArrived at RockNRoll and though wow such a cool vibe, they had a outdoor with bean bag games which was pretty nice, we ordered our appetizer, kids item and our sushi in that order, the appetizer and kids hibachi came out really fast and was decent, thou dam this is a place to come back too so far so good, then our rolls take over an hour to arrive and on top of that when it did arrive, it was mediocre , rice was not formed properly, could tell it was not professionally prepared, the chefs at the sushi bar did not have experience, I know restaurant is new but why is there 2 host and a dozen servers while the kitchen is backed up? The priority should be the food and the efficiency by which it arrives, it should not take an hour and half almost for a sushi roll to arrive, it was very disappointing considering we had high hopes at firsts, I would not come back unless I hear that they have new experienced chefs preparing...
