We were looking for a soul food restaurant on our way home from Miami and google led us to MeMa’s Kitchen. The reviews were good, so we stopped by. The place is very small and quaint and seemed to be pretty clean. We would have eaten there, but it was very warm inside, so we took it to go. For my meal, I had the smothered pork chops, white rice and field peas. It was phenomenal! I also had a side of potato salad, which I didn’t care for at all. My boyfriend had the turkey wings, white rice, Mac and cheese, and field peas. He said that his was delicious as well. The food came out fast, was piping hot, and the portions were generous!
We had the banana pudding and classic pound cake, as well. Both desserts tasted pretty good, but I’m not sure about the texture of the banana pudding. I will probably try a different dessert on our next visit.

Read moreThis little spot is a southern comfort at heart. Im in love with the atmosphere and that distinct aroma of a southern Nana’s kitchen on a Sunday morning or evening. The staff is very polite and welcoming. The prices compared to the portions are astounding. I’m going later today when they open for dinner. This will be my third time this week. The catfish nuggets melt in your mouth like butter, the grits are straight up ecstasy. The liver and onions will make you shed a tear of delight. I’m so grateful I found this place. I may never cook...
