Straightforward American style Mexican. All the choices are there. The surprise is how good everything is. The salsa has a fresh taste, the cheese dip a rich flavor. The entrees are hearty and flavorful. Not fancy versions of the old school Mexican food classics just very well executed with rather high quality ingredients. The steak burrito was very large with nice sized bites of meat. The combination of ingredients was well proportioned. The service was very good. Seated promptly, chips and water right away, chips refilled quickly without even a question. Very friendly and helpful server took my order as soon as I was ready. My food came out fast and hot. Great old school (American style) Mexican restaurant. Big portions, small prices.

Arrived after the busy time and only a couple of customers there. Service was slow to take my order but I wasn't in a hurry (good thing). Someone was talking to whom I assume was the manager as he was at the cash register and was not told to be quiet or watch his language as he, not the mngr, cut loose with a lot of profanity. Geez. I ordered the Pacifico which was pretty good and it consisted of scallops, shrimp, chicken and vegetables topped with cheese and came with rice and beans. The service was polite though. Didn't try their desserts.

The fajita's were great ($34), Service was slow or not existent. On Sundays they have a buffet from 12-2, which we saw and it looks good. However, on Sundays they only have two lunch specials (which they don't tell you until you go to order). There is no alcohol at all, not that we needed any, just an FYI for those used to a margarita while eating some chips/salsa or fajitas. Over all the food was great and plentiful, just low service and on the day we were there they only accepted cash......which we learned as we went to check out.

The staff were very nice and hardworking, but the food was less than special. The tortilla chips were quite thick, and tasted like whole wheat chips (but I didn't ask). The salsa had big chunks of soggy tomato and lacked sufficient salt. Any onion flavor was weak, and cilantro indescernible. Not spicy at all, which is not my preference, but if the salsa had been flavorful in other ways, I would review it higher.

We got fajitas for two with the shrimp cooked separately. For $24, you can't complain about the portion size, as it was unexpectedly ample. The shrimp was good, but the meats, esp the beef, were overcooked and even gristley. Instead of the typical 3-4 small, fajita-size tortillas (with a choice of corn or flour versions), we each got two large-ish flour tortillas of 7"- 8" diameter. We tore them into smaller pieces. We each got a portion of refried beans and rice (seriously, it was a lot of food), but both were pretty flavorless. The guac was good, but maybe it stood out because of the lackluster meal in front of us.

I'm from Atlanta, and while we do have lots of Mexican restaurants, the food doesn't vary much from place to place. El Pacífico, however, serves food that is perhaps your Southern great-grandma's idea of what Mexican food is like.

If you're willing to drive 30 minutes from Robbinsville, I can highly recommend Monte Alban in Andrews, NC--which also is not in a dry county like El Pacífico, so you can get a beer or margarita if you'd like.

Sorry, El Pacifico. You're really nice people, but I won't be...

We have been going here for a few years. Never thought it was great, but today was HORRIBLE, and nobody cared. Spoke with the lady that checked us out, and she could have cared less. There was six of us, and we walked in and a lady stood there and looked at us from across the restaurant until we seated ourselves. The gentleman that is a water, is he great! Great! But the ladies that work there don't smile, look at your or speak to you. Very rude. We received our food 35 or more mins later, and to be completely honest, it was terrible! The meat wasn't cut up, and there were 2 vegetables in my whole meal (the Texan is supposed to be filled with vegetables). We checked out, which took 10 mins. And when we got back to the office, 4/6 of us threw up. So, for over $60.00 for LUNCH, i was pretty upset. Spoke with the owner when we got back to work and he said the meat came that way, and I'll call the insurance company if you go to the doctor. He basically said, not my fault and good luck. We will not go back and we are...

I understand things happen. But seriously wish i could put a 0 star. I was trying to enjoy my food and after my third bite i pulled a ** bandaid out of my mouth. I proceeded but trying to keep my cool and I tried to alert our waiter who was doing a billion things at once. As soon as i tried to inform a server he walked to the back and didn’t come back. I could’ve easily walked out and not paid but i decided to wait and inform them before attempting to leave. Once i finally talked to our server he decided to accuse me of being rude to one of their servers and told me had an unnecessary reaction and cursed out the server. I did not. I did not feel comfortable paying for the food and thankfully they did not charge me or the group if 6 I was with. Im only visiting robbinsville and there’s not many food places but this is for sure one i will...
