My review has been edited now, from 5 stars to 1. The reason is because my philosophy is, safety FIRST. Nowhere, is it recommended, to place child play equipment over hard surfaces. The area of major concern is the basketball hoops, with Young children climbing all over it.... why in the world would you use 3/4 inch stone as a ground material. Now, half the place is closed off, so they can grow grass.... but they don't need grass, they need something softer. Why on earth would you be able to afford 5 kids working here... maybe a couple less and you could do work around here you need to do, such as replace the play equipment and place down wood chips or better, as a ground material. Also, a kiddie ice cream + a small cup, SHOULD NOT be $10.75. The owner doesn't show up here anymore, or I would tell her this myself. It's not an ice cream shop, it's a playground that sells ice cream. They...
Read moreThis is a nice little mom and pop type of ice cream place that offers a few hot items and sandwiches. The food is good and the prices are comparable to anywhere else. They definitely give you a generous helping of ice cream 🍦. There is no indoor seating, but with the canopy over the picnic tables, you can easily be there in any weather. One of the Best things about this place is the play area they have set up for the kids.! Parents can sit and eat/relax while kids play within sight. When you arrive, it Always looks busy, but even when lots of people are in line... Your wait is never long. Staff is friendly and efficient and the owner is usually working hard right along side of everyone else. Negatives? :.. I only had one... The frappes seemed a little pricy and I like them to be really thick and they aren't. This is definitely not a deal breaker for me and I definitely...
Read moreRochester is a quaint little town just west of Wareham and east of New Bedford. There's not much to this farming community, so when we went searching for ice cream there was a lot in Wareham and New Bedford, but only Captain Bonneys near Rochester.
This roadside creamery has a large variety of ice cream options for even the pickiest eaters. And their ice cream comes from 2 different local creameries, both of which have delicious options.
They also serve food with some of the lowest prices we've seen yet.
Beyond all of that, the kids will love you for stopping. They have tons of playsets, toys and games to play with. And it all sits just in front of a working horse stable, so through the fence they'll get to see dozens of horses.
Captain Bonneys is a bit off the beaten track, but it's worth the journey for good food, ice cream and an hour of fun for the...
