Excellent service! I've had wonderful meals here 2x as I was passing through the area.
One night last winter, there were several wrecks on the the road. It was so foggy, dark, black ice, and snow on the road. I was very exhausted and stressed out experiencing the accidents and weather conditions. I went into building, looking to find a fast snack since it was late. Then, a lady smiled at me from the restaurant side and said, " Are you hungry? We are just closing down, but I could ask the Chef if he has time to make you something to go?" The Chef said, " Sure, I can make her something!" How kind is that!!! I order a meal to go and it was OUTSTANDING! The kind Chef and Waitress had surely uplifted me all the way home, 1 1/2 hours away. What lovely people, instead of closing, they helped me with lovely smiles, and great food.
Today, my husband and I stopped in for a lovely meal again, at the Island Restaurant. I was able to thank the sweet waitress for her kind ways and told her to tell the Chef also, as he had just stepped into the back area, so I missed telling him.
It is people like this that make life beautiful 😍. They both greet everyone that came in the restaurant like they were close family.
God Bless them both...
Read moreThis is a cozy place where the locals (including me, my family, and friends) go to have some of the best breakfast the valley has to offer, right up there with Smitty's. Staff are friendly and treat us like extended family and make an effort to get to know us and our preferences.
This place is top notch for homestyle food. I have never been here for anything other than breakfast though, so my words cannot attest to the quality of lunch/dinner.
Best chicken fried steak and jumbo sausage links, awesome pancakes, and the Florentine and cheddar browns are wonderfully delicious. The big breakfast has it all; the cooks here don't skimp on portions (but they aren't too big either) and use a perfect level of seasonings. Hashbrowns are perfectly seasoned, crispy, and golden, and this is the only place I can ask for my eggs over hard and they actually know what that means. The coffee is decent, and they actually know how to toast and butter bread and English muffins. That sounds a little ridiculous, but most places skimp and leave most of the bread dry after it's already been toasted for too long at too low of a temp.
Can't go wrong with this place for breakfast as far as I'm...
Read moreAs an OTR truck driver I eat at restaurants all over the country. This place ranks right at the top. Had an amazing cheeseburger last night with tator tots. At these small mom and pop truck stops you never know what your are going to get. This place was a pleasant treat. Stopped in the store for a few items. Where we were greeted by a lady with quite the personality. Found a camo cb for $60 then walked over to the restaurant. We were greeted by a friendly waitress. She stayed right up with our thirsty demands and personalities. The cook did an awesome job. My burger had all the fixins. They were actually fresh. Fresh, crisp, GREEN lettuce, crunchy pickle chips, and a ripe tomato! The burger had a little bit of relish and mayo so I was scared I may need some bbq sauce or something.....nope, that patty actually had flavor! It is rare now a days to find a good piece of meat, especially at a truck stop. I recommend everyone check this place out. If we are ever come thru these parts again, we will definitely be stopping. Oh, my boyfriend had a burger also, with a strange name but opted to add the egg. He to said it was the...
