Tastee Twirl — Restaurant in Rockford

The Tastee Twirl has been an institution in Rockford since my childhood and I’m not sure how many years before. I don’t know what this small town would do without a place for soft serve ice cream cones and shakes after little league games. It’s so close to the park, it’s like a tradition that has to be observed! summertime in Rockford requires afternoon trips to the Tastee Twirl! My favorite is the butterscotch shake with a little bit of marshmallow cream mixed in. Since it isn’t a chain or franchise, you can make special requests like “extra thin” or “extra thick.” I prefer easy sipping through a straw. We stopped here a few weeks ago with our granddaughter. We had ordered a hot dog and french fries and two coney's. The food was great. We ordered two medium vanilla cones with caramel flavor. Super delicious! The staff was friendly and very accurate with our order. We passed through this town again on our way to Indiana. On our way back we decided to stop and get a couple of medium ice cream cones as the last time. Once again we were very pleased. It is a great place to stop. Hanging around Mercer Co this summer now with a new appreciation for the awesome food and ice cream at this quintessential tasteetwirl. Absolutely the very best pork tenderloin I’ve ever had—fresh and thick. My cheese curds addiction worsened here🙃. Topping it off is seasonal pumpkin soft serve ice cream with vanilla center.
