Triple R Cafe — Restaurant in Rockford

I want to give this place 5 stars, but because of the service, I can't. We've been there four times, and the food was always extremely good. No matter what I ordered, it was excellent. The issue is the amount of time you have to wait to get it. The three times we were able to eat there, we spent almost an hour waiting for our food. Two of those times, we didn't get an appetizer we ordered, and every time we've been there it appears that the staff is overwhelmed with the amount of people in there. The last time we went, the restaurant was completely full, but no one had received their food yet. We left, because I knew it would be hours before we could even think about being served or eating. In short, if you get there early....around 4:30 or 5, you should be good as long as you don't have plans before 7. But if you happen to get there after 5:30, you're going to be in for a wait. it's worth it, but you need to be sure you have the time to spend...

Should have known this place was BAD as soon as I tasted their sweet tea. It was DISGUSTING!!!!! I switched my drink to dr pepper but it waa just as bad. Had an OFF taste. I ordered their special country steak meal with potato salad. Their potato salad was worse than what i could get at walmart or winn dixie, way worse, and the special steak had no flavor at all. If it waant for the gravy it wouldve been absolutely tasteless. I was scared the whole day that I was gonna get food poisoning or something but thankfully everything was okay. Their service was good but I did not like the buffet style atmosphere with the sitdown portion in the same area. The only good part of my whole experience. I was never in this town before and had to go to the courthouse. Afterwards, I was hungry and noticed a police car, an emergency vehicle, and a lot of local work trucks there, so I figured that was the place to go. BOY - was I right!

Besides good food, good prices, and a decent menu, they have the hardest working staff I’ve ever seen. One worker cleaned the tables immediately when someone left to have it ready for the next customer, and believe me, there were plenty of customers. Another employee waited on tables, and seriously - she actually ran from table to table taking orders. She was perfect - brought me a second drink at exactly the right time. I tipped her generously - how could you not?
