The Tail of Two Eateries 3 of us visited for lunch in June The server was very friendly and super helpful, the appetizers and entries were presented beautifully and were delicious. We were very impressed and could not wait to come back, We spent well over $100.00 and loved it. We returned for lunch the last Sunday of July, this time there were 4 in our party. Our server was unfriendly and quick to anger. Which ruined our fun time. There was Not one other person in the restaurant eating, the place was empty. We ordered pretty much the exact same things we did from our last visit. The appetizers were not quite as good and the meals were just terrible. Clearly the Chef who was there in June was not working when we returned. I'm speculating the angry dark haired server went back to the kitchen and made this. Example: Visit 1. Salad was very well put together with lots of fresh vegetables ingredients, the chicken was moist and tender. Visit 2 it was 95% lettuce and the chicken was over cooked and dry. Example 2. Thai Tacos, Visit 1, was wow, fresh vegetables heaping and filling over the taco with fresh tasty chicken- delicious. Visit 2. The Taco was 30% filled, the chicken could be seen clearly and there was 3 slivers of peppers on top of them. it was dry and Terrible. We realized why we were the only customers there for the full hour we had visited. Local folks must have learned to stay away. This visit we spent over $170.00 because we bought over priced drinks as well (they really should add the prices for the drinks on the menu). My advice is if you are a gambler then give them a shot. If you want constantly good experiences and are willing to pay, you can do better else where. We are not gamblers and we will...
Read moreEh. We've talked for so long about going here, and tonight was the night. We got there around 5, and 2 other tables were taken. The barkeeper yelled for us to pick a table. We were greeted by a server and handed menus, and told that our server would be with us in a moment. Our server, Andrew, welcomed us and took our drink orders. We perused both the menu, and the night's specials menu. Some interesting choices. I ordered the scallop and shrimp scampi while my husband ordered the garlic sirloin, roasted potatoes, and baked beans. Both meals came with side salads. The salads were quite tasty, and the shaved parmesan was a nice touch. The meals arrived and we were underwhelmed. The serving pieces were too large for the adequately-sized portions. The shrimp was alright, the scallops were a bit rubbery. The linguine was drenched in an oil that tasted burnt. The accompanying garlic toast had an unusual taste, possibly the burnt oil taste. My husband's steak was cooked to his liking, and he liked the roasted potatoes. Although the beans looked homemade, he said they tasted like they had come from a can. Our server was attentive. Will we come back? Hard to say because we pass many other restaurants that we always enjoy. I can say for certain that if we do return, we'll order from the...
Read moreI don’t usually review a restaurant based on just one visit, but there were so many things spot-on at Liberty that I want to share my favorable impressions right away. My wife and I had been to our favorite farm stand, Lennilia Farm, and pushed on to Liberty for lunch. The building itself has been lovingly restored and adapted with a balance of modern functionality and historic integrity. It’s a restoration as good as I have ever seen in a privately owned restaurant in an historic building. They retained much original stone, mortar, woodwork, patina and wear. The replacement materials match the original in composition, color, and texture so well I could only identify it by considering where spaces had to have been enlarged or adapted. They didn’t make it hokey with a bunch of antique wall hangings. The lunch menu is upscale pub food, that was prepared and presented better than expected. There’s someone in the kitchen with chef skills. We had drinks that were decent pours, and we also sampled a few of the many micro-brews. We ended up spending a few hours there talking to folks at the bar. The bill for lunch for two was $80.00 including tip, but we could have had a very nice lunch with a couple of beers each for half that amount and a quarter of the time. But it wouldn’t have been...
