This was our first time at Rockport Diner. We were a party of four. We were greeted right away by a smiling face and shown to our booth. We overheard our server telling another table that she was new. She answered the questions she could and quickly found answers to the ones she was unsure of. She took our drink order and returned quickly with our beverages. She took our orders for entrées and we each ordered a chowder. Three seafood chowders and a corn chowder. It was quite awhile until our chowder was brought to the table. Once we started eating we realized why it took so long. The chowder was homemade and loaded with seafood!! The potatoes and onions in the chowder were fresh cut. Our entrees followed the pretty quickly after our chowder. One entrée was a wrap which was a good size and was filled with fresh ingredients. The next entrée was fish and chips with cole slaw. The portion was quite adequate and delicious. My wife ordered the small fried scallop platter with a side of potato salad and a side of steamed carrots. There were eight scallops of medium size which were nicely breaded. My wife said they were too salty and the home-made potato salad and steamed carrots were both too bland. I ordered the crab cake and fries with cole slaw special. There were two medium sized crab cakes that had a golden brown battered outside. The inside was fresh crabmeat without any nasty filler that is usually found in diner crabcakes. They were extremely tasty. I've had worse at 5 star restaurants. I was very pleasantly surprised. The cole slaw was fresh and the fries were hot and crisp. Our servered asked if we had room for dessert. My wife and I ordered separate desserts and our guests shared a bread pudding. They enjoyed the bread pudding. My wife ordered the Lemon Lush and said it was very good. It had a filling topped with lemon. She described the filling as a thick meringue. I ordered the Blueberry Lush and it was amazing! Crust was on point. There was a layer of, what tasted liked a cream cheese based cheesecake filling topped with a blueberry topping. Overall we were very happy with our experience. Our server, who was new, was excellent. She was personable, attentive and smiled when she interacted with each guest. Two of the guests used the restrooms and said they were very clean. The entire restaurant was spotless. I was quite impressed with our experience. I will definitely be back the next time I'm...

Today is Veteran's Day and I wanted to treat the Veterans that are our residents (I work for a local nursing home) to a meal from this restaurant. I called the day before and asked about their Veterans discount and mentioned my plan for the next day. Fast forward to today. I called at 10:30a in an attempt to give them plenty of time to get these 2 dinners ready for noon. But they refused to take my order. No amount of explaining would work. She simply said they couldn't do take out. I had already asked my residents for their lunch order and I didn't want to disappoint them on Veterans Day. So, I drove less then 10 minutes and stood patiently in line waiting for a table. Eventually the same lady I spoke to on the phone sat me at a table and asked for my order. The time was 10:52a and I was informed she couldn't take my order until 11a when they began to serve lunch. Fine. I will wait. 10 minutes later she asks me to move from my booth because she now knew my order was actually "to-go." Sure. I moved. She seats another customer at my previous table and starts taking their lunch order. I let her finish and then ask her if I can place my order. This is when she starts getting really irritated. She really didn't want me to place this to-go order because she already told me on the phone they weren't doing to-go orders. I'm sorry but my residents cannot physically come to your restaurant but please let me get them a nice meal for Veterans Day! She also wanted to argue that there was no Veterans Discount and when I frustratingly asked for a manager she replied, " Well, my family has owned this place for the last 8 years, so...." and proceeded to not bring anyone over to talk to me. Okay. Fine. To sum up an already too long rant, I have given this restaurant at least a half dozen "second chances" and I'm done. Never again. I did get the food after waiting 1.5 hours and my residents did enjoy it. But I can't deal with the customer service here....

We were here Sunday June 12, a table of 4. My son and I are vegetarian, my husband and son’s girlfriend are not. Our server, Who we are not naming was awesome. The restaurant was I’d say half full. We ordered, and the waited an extremely long time for our food. We are fully aware there are staffing issues everywhere and food is slow everywhere, but this was slow slow. So slow that we needed to ask for an update on how much longer it might be. Eventually the food came out and my son was served his with bacon on it, even though he said no meat and he’s vegetarian. We explained to our server that we do not want the meat just taken off the food it was laid across (the whole plate) but wanted a different order. My son’s girlfriend and I were both missing our potatoes. We told our server she could leave the food on the table and bring a new order (we wanted to ensure the meat was not just taken off the top) and she did. She then came back saying the owner, Donna, was cooking, and was insisting the food that had already been delivered to our table, be brought back into the kitchen. Our server was visibly upset. The next we saw her, she was wiping tears, and clearly crying, due to the treatment she was receiving from Donna. Our hearts broke for her. We tried to reassure her we were ok and she let us know the treatment she had received from her boss and we let her know this was not ok. But she was so upset and we were upset. Not wanting to make it worse for our server, we agreed not to speak to the owner and we accepted our meals, late, missing food, and my son eventually got his food. We wondered if his original food was served to another table (ew) after it had already been on ours. We will not visit this restaurant again, unfortunately. And we’ve been eating...

Found this restaurant out of necessity this morning. If you’re not familiar with the area, many restaurants are closed Monday and Tuesday. This morning we wanted breakfast and the Rockport Diner was one of the few places open. That being said, I wish I had found it sooner! I had the blueberry pancakes with bacon and eggs. My wife had the chocolate chip pancakes. The food was great! Big and dense pancakes that are sure to fill you up. Very generous on the toppings. My pancakes were loaded with blueberries. If you order take out, maybe add an extra 5-10 minutes to the estimated pick up time as it is a small restaurant and pretty busy. We waited about 10 extra minutes this morning after our estimated order ready time. But that’s far from a deal breaker. I’ll definitely be back and I would recommend that you check them out as well.

We went in for dinner and got seated right away. However, we waited over 30 minutes for our food. Quesadilla was good. Nice large portion. Lobster on the lobster roll was ice cold. It was almost frozen. I ordered it with hot butter and the lobster was so cold that the butter started to congeal again. It made for an unpleasant experience in my mouth. Croissant was more like a roll and less like a flaky croissant. Fries and chocolate shake were tasty! The restaurant had cute diner vibes, but the menu was surprisingly less diner-y with a few menu items in multiple forms. Like the few diner staples they had: Ruben and BLT available as a wrap and as a sandwich. They only serve breakfast till 11 and a limited breakfast till 2.

Food was mediocre, which I’ve come to expect from Maine diners, wait was forever (about an hour) after ordering because they had a (Large Party of people) and when the food finally came out it was not all at the same time, took about 5 min to bring it all out. Will not be back, about done with this state when it comes to small diners
