I called in a blt with egg this morning . 20 minutes later otw to work i stop to pick it up. I pay and tip, and am told they are still finishing it up. I wait an additional 12 minutes. I see my ticket 4-5 tickets down the line. The waitress was very polite and at no fault of hers, i could tell she was stressed. The kitchen staff was slow and not working in a fluid order. The chef, hobbling around at a snails pace cooking one egg at a time, his assistant only focusing on the next ticket in line. Another lady in the kitchen conversing with possible family or friends that had stopped in. I could have stepped back there and made my own sandwich in that time frame i spent waiting. I had to leave. I asked for a rain check but that kind of wait for a simple sandwich at 7:30 in the morning doesnt make sense. That kitchen staff was not operating efficiently or showed any sense of urgency to fill orders. Common sense would tell you to read down the line of tickets when prepping to fill multiple tickets at once instead of single file going through one ticket at a time. I was 5 mins late to work, with no breakfast, and almost ten dollars poorer. Ive always enjoyed the staff and atmosphere, the food is usually good though I have found hair in my food there before as well, a pancake breakfast. I think the âchefâ and his help could use some more training. Very...
Read moreMy first time eating here so first impressions are important. I came in around 2 oâclock in the afternoon and they were not very busy only about two other people in the restaurant. I just ordered something simple a couple of hotdog with everything and french fries. It took a little bit over 20 minutes to get my food in the server was very apologetic which was nice. The portion of french fries was very small, but the quality was decent although overly salted. The hotdog themselves were about a six out of 10 scale. One bun was a little bit soggy, and the other one was a little bit near the beginning of stale. The chili was bland and tasteless. Tasted like just a generic canned chili. I will try this restaurant again, but I doubt I will have the hot dogs again due to the pricing for the quality. The cost before tip was about $12.50. Not unreasonable price, but noteworthy due to the smaller portion of fries and the condition of the buns and the wait. You can get two loaded hotdog with french fries at Holly Joâs in Boones Mill for example for 8.95⌠and that restaurant quality never seems to disappoint. The overall cleanliness in the atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and you can tell they keep a nice kitchen. I will follow up in a further review when I come back and try something different on the menu as I cannot recommend the hot dogs,...
Read moreWhile browsing Facebook a few days ago, I came across a Hometown Eats special about Sagoâs. I couldnât believe it - a gas station restaurant serving Wagyu beef in the middle of ânowhereâ? We had to try it. Today, we drove an hour from the Lynchburg area to give Sagoâs a try.
After a long drive through backroads, we came upon the Valero station with a beautiful brand new storefront/restaurant. At this point, my husband was still a little weary. I hadnât shared much with him other than âWeâre going to a restaurant at a gas station thatâs an hour awayâ
As soon as we walked in, we were impressed by the beautiful open kitchen and the friendly environment. Shortly after sitting down, our friendly server approached us and gave us menus. My husband was blown away by all of the options.
He ordered the Wagyu Hamburger Steak and I ordered the Franklin County Drunken Ribeye. Our friend opted for the Jacks Burger. We were all incredibly impressed with our choices. Although we were stuffed, we tried the banana pudding and skillet cookie. They were excellent as well.
If youâre looking for a hidden gem, this is it and itâs worth the drive. We canât...
