Today is June 8th and I've passed by this place many times and I usually stop at Julia's just up the road but for some reason I thought I'd stop by this place to give it a try. My big mistake and won't be stopping here again. I can't say if the food is good or bad since all I tasted was the chip and salsa because it seemed as if none of the waitresses had time to come to my table. I mean as soon as I seat down and they bring a menu and before I got any chips and salsa brought to me a waitress ask for my order and I just had gotten an menu I said that I needed a minute and I decided what to order and waited probably 5 minutes and a waitress was walking by and she turned and asked if I was ready to order and was fixing to tell her my order and ask about getting more chips because the chips they brought to me tested like burnt cooking oil but before I could even say anything the waitress said to give her one second soil figured she was grabbing a pad to get my order but I watched her wait on other tables and watched more people come in and the waitress didn't take but a spit second to get chips to their table as I still seat there waiting and 10 more minutes pass by and still nobody still coming to take my order... it seems like if your new face in here they just ignore you but finally after another 4 or 5 minutes a waitress finally comes to the table to ask for my order and by that time I had enough of the nonsense I've done been seating and waiting a good 30 minutes to give my order so I just the waitress that I just wanted the check for the chips and salsa and she didn't waste no time on that and I ended paying a little over 7 bucks for the chips and salsa and they wasn't worth that. I won't be coming back to El Patron bar & grill but I usually pass through the area quite often and I will be stopping at Julia's Mexican restaurant where they will make sure that their customers are taken care of... I didn't have the opportunity to taste the food at El Patron Mexican restaurant so I can't say that's its bad but I don't know if it's any good either because the waitresses couldn't make the time to wait on me...
Read moreI did a double take driving down the road. I love Japanese and Mexican; I had to try this place! The chips and salsa and sweet tea were good, putting things off to a real good start.
I set my expectations a bit low- anything slightly above mall food court food at this price would be fine⌠especially considering trying to offer two different cuisines on the same menuâŚbut this turned out pretty good! The lunch hibachi chicken was a good value- I chose the mushroom soup that came with it (decent) and paid a reasonable $2 up-charge for noodles instead of rice. The chicken, veggies, and sauce it was cooked in were generous and surprisingly good (I did not try the white sauce that came with-generally not a fan) for the price. I cleaned my plate.
I had planned on getting a taco or chile relleno a la carte as well, but was actually full. They stayed on top of my sweet tea refills- hardly anyone can keep up with me- so I am very, very happy about that! Sadly, I didnât see any sushi on the menu⌠but, I will still gladly go back someday if Iâm in the area (itâs about an hour drive for me), or may make the trip with the family on days when nobody can make up their mind or agree.
Iâd love to see some Asian-Mexican fusion recipe attempts/specials (there was a place in Huntsville about a dozen years or so ago called Red Hot Kitchen that did an amazing job with that, but it was ahead of its time, as the Hipster crowd didnât arrive till after it closed), but even without that, this place offers a compromise if youâve got picky family who want one...
Read morePleasantly surprised!.we had a mixture of food...Mexican, Japanese and sushi. All delicious. I liked the terriaki steak and shrimp that I got best it had 8 large shrimp. It also came with soup or salad. I had the mushroom soup it was like none other that I've had but was awesome. Grandson got the honey chicken and it was excellent as well as the fajitas and huge sushi roll! We ended up trying each other's food because every dish that came out we ooed and awed over . Delicious variety. Prices are comparable to other restaurants of the same type in the Shoals area. They are still working on alcohol probably a hold up with the city. My suggestion would be to spruce up the dining area. Build some walls and portion off that hugh room. No one liked that situation with previous owners and they won't like it now. Fix it up quick! We want you to stay around! Good Luck!...
