My family members have visited twice. First time was 5 star worthy. Their second visit, not even one star! I posted on their Facebook page but they haven't bothered to follow up beyond saying it would be looked into and have not read further comments I added. Sat. Sept. 23rd, my family went to celebrate a birthday. My uncle had tasted his sister in laws salmon their first visit and wished that he'd ordered it. So he ordered it for his birthday meal. It was brought to the table badly plated, undercooked and with obviously burned vegetables. He sent it back and it was returned looking exactly the same as he'd first received it! He was so incredibly disappointed! Everyone else was also very disappointed with their meals. All the vegetables were burned and the servings were very scant compared to first visit. The salmon broth had no caraway seeds as it had before and is listed as an ingredient on the menu. My elderly uncle is not a complainer, but considering he sent his salmon back, you'd think their server would have asked if it was now well done as he had initially requested. She did not. Her service was not exceptional as on their first visit, but they all tipped her VERY generously anyway. My uncle's wife later heard that a friend had a bad meal there and it was comped. You'd think that they would have taken the salmon charge off my uncle's bill, but did not offer anything, not even an apology. On fb, I was informed that our concerns would be looked into, but no further response. Family was willing to give them one more chance, but they are closed this coming Saturday, October 21, 2017. They gave no explanation regarding reason for closure when a reservation attempt was made. Considering they charge such high prices for their entrees, as everything else is a la carte, one would expect there to be consistently high quality food coming out of the kitchen. As a former server at a very fine dining restaurant, I would not have served obviously burned food and most certainly would have checked back with the birthday person who returned their salmon. It appears there is a lack of professional management and kitchen overseer or expediter to ensure consistent quality. I look forward to having my concerns addressed and perhaps my uncle could be given a free replacement...
Read moreOk, expected a fine dining restaurant but not! Just a dinner at another golf course grill. Walked in to the dining room and no table linen or even a place mat. Got the menu from a really good server and noticed the prices were really high for the area. Maybe those rich golfers from Chicago will pay the prices but not the locals? Lighting in the dining area is really bright. When they wanted us to leave, somebody dimmed the lights and that is the way it should have been with candles on the table when we walked in. Not After ordering we asked if we got soup or salad! Not How about rolls, breadsticks, local baked bread. Not. We were starving and got nothing but the entree. The food and chef were fantastic. Chef should have made a trip out of the kitchen so we could have told them about the fantastic meals. Great wine and drink list. Had dessert for the three of us and better than fantastic. Server was fantastic. Manager walked around the three tables that were full and said hi. Should have known better to eat here when we saw a lot of staff and empty tables. But we wanted to try this venue. Know the restaurant is just beginning to serve dinner but they need a manager who knows how to run a restaurant! You can't charge the prices on the menu they do without a choice of soup or salad. You could not even order a side salad. And no baskets of bread. They could have put a great fireplace in the middle of the dining room. The best golf course in the world, Pebble Beach has floodlights aiming on the grounds so you can see deer, etc. etc. Great view during the day but at night you see nothing. Would be great to see the snow falling in the winter on the property! So am I going to tell you to visit the restaurant? If you want to pay a high price and not get a good value, pay a visit. We will be going to the Canal in Augusta to eat until I hear something has improved at the Blue Stem Sent a letter to the restaurant manager and have yet to hear from him or her. They need to hire a manager who knows how to run a fine dining room. But like I said, "the dumb golfers from Chicago will not wave the high prices to eat." Maybe this place is not intended for fine dining but the prices are for...
Read moreWent to Bkue Stem this evening to see Tony Fields. He is great! (R&B singer, he delivered.) views are the highlights.
We had dinner with two other couples. They arrived earlier and had ordered. As the waitress delivered their meals she came to the table 3 times and never acknowledged us. A member from our party had to go get her. So we could order. She took our orders, but never brought us glasses for water that was on the table or napkins or utensils. She did not return so we had to ask another waitress for the basic items for dinner. Our waitress returned with 6 plates, napkins and utensils settings, which was not needed only needed these items for us. Not being perceptive or interpreting the situation. It then became dark and there were no lights to see our food. We had to use our phones for light. We asked another waitress for a candle that we had seen on other tables , since our waitress was not around. The other waitress turned on the patio lights. Wow where was the manager?
Additionally, many people were interested in hearing Tony sing, but the restaurant did not accommodate them with seating. There was definitely room to add more seating. A lady and her husband were standing to hear Tony sing and she was on a walker. None of the waitresses offered them seating. Someone from our group did.
Our meals took a very long time to come. The meals were good. She never came back to ask if we wanted more drinks. When our waitress realized we were not happy with the service she did come back. But each time she came back she asked a quick “ need anything?” And moved away quickly as if she expected us to not want anything. I then needed salt and pepper; I needed more ice; I needed our candle re-lit. She was just not in tune to our basic common restaurant needs.
It was my husbands birthday and I had ordered a dessert with a candle, it never came.
My husband and I were in disagreement about the tip. I said none and my husband said he could not do that. I believe you do not reward people for bad behavior. He tipped and I wrote “terrible service” on the bill and that I would never return. #extremely wounded #very...
