My husband, child, & I went today for lunch and felt very UNWELCOMED from the beginning of entering the building. No one spoke to us or anything. We sat ourselves and it took some time before anyone got to us. When they did, our waitress already seemed annoyed with us and told us we had to get our own highchair, we went to the back and grabbed one and they were all CAKED WITH ICK. I had to completely cover it with my jacket and blanket. Like they don’t clean them. I ordered my son’s food first and when I told her we would wait to order our entrees she seemed unhappy. When she came back to get our order after bringing our son’s food we gave her our order. My husband ordered the BBQ nachos and the waitress asked if he wanted jalapeños and he said yes. I ordered the grilled chicken & bacon sandwich and my waitress asked if I wanted anything on the side because it comes with nothing and I told her I will wait to order a side because the sandwich might fill me up. She told me I had to order it now or not at all. It took a minimum of 30 minutes to bring our food out ( I did not time it exactly.) Other parties that had come in after us and ordered after us had already received their foods. One party of 4/5 people who arrived after us ordered, received, ate and LEFT before we even received our food. Another party of 2 who came in after us also ordered, received ate and LEFT before we even got our food. When we did receive our food my husband did not get jalapeños on his nachos after they are supposed to come with them plus the presentation was absolutely HORRENDOUS. They looked like I made them at my home drunk. My grilled chicken on my sandwich was so tough I could not even chew it. It was dry and dark grey from the grill. We only were checked on once by our waitress before we had got our food and she did not even apologize for the delay or anything or refill our drinks. I added in a photo of how the nachos were delivered...
Read moreI'm not from the south but the cooking sure made me feel southern. Nice little place located next to a small historic site. Great to play with the kids while you wait for a table. Where there is great food you will find great lines.
We really enjoyed the local feel of the place. The menu had choices for just about anyone (even pizza for those dang picky kids).
Let's talk CATFISH. This fish was seasoned and fried just right. This is not your normal run of the mill fish joint. You can tell they take pride in the taste of not only the catfish but all the food they serve.
We really appreciate the service we received too. Even at a busy dinner time they ensure you feel like you are the only table seated.
Also I think they own the specialty shop across the street called "In High Cotton". So if there is a wait you can do a little local business shopping. Don't worry the restaurant will call over there if your table is ready.
Great food and good ole southern service.
Thank...
Read moreWe flew in from Wisconsin, someone said this is the place. We waited over an hour to get seated. Once in we got seated to a “sticky table “ got our tea ordered and it came promptly and we ordered. Then we waited and waited and waited another hour. We were told by a different waitress that they had gotten a lot of togo orders and we should come up soon. You must do things differently in the south were togo orders supersede in house patrons. Twenty minutes later our dinner came and everything had been sitting for some time, nothing was hot. It seemed the oil they cooked the French fries in wasn’t hot enough, they were soggy and cold. Our starter fried pickles was hot, it came out ten minutes after our cold food. By then the anticipation was gone. Two of our three meals went in the garbage untouched. I’m the only one that tried to eat anything it was rough. I paid paid fifty eight dollars for that. If I got free food for life I would never go in...
